SALCETTI ROBERT A., Sr. We have lost another of the Greatest Generation. Robert A. Salcetti, Sr. was born to Aurelio and Amalia Salcetti, January 29, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA. Bob spent five years of his life fighting in the Army in the Pacific during WWII. He joined the Army in February 1941. He quickly rose through the ranks to be discharged as a Major in the 77th Division, 306th artillery unit in March 1946. After several years as a manager at Capital Airlines in Pittsburgh, PA, he ventured into land development/home building and became the premier builder of custom homes for Briarwood Homes in McCandless Township. He also completed a joint venture with Alcoa in Allegheny Center, North Side in Pittsburgh. In 1970, he joined Ryland Homes as President and eventually opened the S.W. area of the U.S., with headquarters in Texas. In his 20 years with Ryland, he built over 10,000 homes. Bob lived in the Northwest side of Houston for the last 40 years while working for Ryland and raising his children with his wife of 45 years, Lynne. Preceded in death by parents, Aurelio and Amalia Salcetti; and brother, Gino Salcetti. Survived by wife, Lynne Salcetti; sons and daughters-in-law, Blake and Jennifer Salcetti and Bob and DeNise Salcetti; daughters and son-in-law, Michael and Beth Salcetti Moher and Marianne Salcetti; sister and brother-in-law, Carlo and Helen Castaldo; grandchildren, Jake Mrkvicka and Amalia Rhines, Ben and Kathryn Salcetti, Kendall and Riley Rundquist, Maya, Maddox, Milana and Madden Moher, Isabella, Adam and Nicholas Salcetti; niece, Carla Robida; and nephew, David Castaldo.
