DULAT MARY Of Forest Grove Rd. in Robinson Twp., died peacefully at her home Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Mary was the last living member of the Dulat family that emigrated from Ukraine in the early 1900s. She was raised in the McKees Rocks Bottoms during the influx of Slavics into the region. Mary spent most of her life in Massachusetts serving the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the many Ukrainian immigrants that came from abroad. It was said that she was a role model for young women of the parishes to which she belonged. She retired working for United Technologies Corporation where she was a technician working on classified government projects. She was preceded in death by her inseparable twin, Olga Wovchko; her sisters, Stella Dejohn, Helen Desiderio, Irene Trimmer; and brother, Peter. She lived most of her 97 years as the kind and caring aunt to all her nieces and nephews and during her waning years always remarked that visits from the great-grandkids made her day. She made it her mission to visit, console and pray for all her siblings in their failing years. To neighbors and passersby, she was known as Aunt Mary and would often toot as she managed to sweep grass, shovel snow and tend to flowers. Mary was cared for in recent years by her nephews, John Wovchko and Edward Wovchko, both of whom spent many wonderful summer vacations under her care. She will be missed by all. Friends received Friday 4-8 p.m. at the VALERIAN F. SZAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 238 Helen St., McKees Rocks. Parastas Friday 7:30 p.m. Funeral Saturday 9:30 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
