KEIM ROBERT WILLIAM SR. November 6, 1920 – March 4, 2017. Robert Keim of Mesa, AZ passed away at his home on March 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bangor, PA in 1920, Robert spent most of his life near Pittsburgh after moving from eastern PA in 1963. He married his loving wife, Naomi (Heeps), shortly before departing for Europe in 1944, where he saw combat and served honorably as a member of the 75th Infantry Division during World War II. He received three Bronze Star Medals for Valor and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he was reunited with his wife and eventually settled in Mount Lebanon, PA to raise his family and subsequently retired to South Fayette Township. Robert worked in the insurance and real estate industries. He cherished his time hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling with family and friends. He and Naomi attended Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church for over 50 years, and he was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. His real passion, however, was family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 73 years, Naomi; four children Jane E. (Terry) Sergi of Scottsdale, AZ; Robert W. (Machell) Keim of Canyon Creek, MT; Kathy A. (Victor) Surma of Pittsburgh, PA; and K. Scott (Amy) Keim of Bluefield, VA. His eight surviving grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren join them in honoring his life. He was predeceased in by his grandson Victor B. Surma. A memorial service will be held in Allentown, PA with full military honors. Donations may be made to the Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church in Robert's name. Information submitted by MERCER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY in Bluefield, WV. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
