ODOM MARY VANN POLLY Age 88, formerly of Sewickley, died peacefully on November 12, 2016, at The Chesapeake in Newport News, VA. She and her late husband, the Rev. Samuel Shafer Odom, were natives of Suffolk, VA. Polly was devoted to her family, friends and faith. All who knew her recognized her sense of humor, quick wit and positive attitude as she faced life's challenges. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with an M.A. She became Administrative Assistant to Deans of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law; Editorial Assistant, Journal of Legal Education; managing Editor, Bulletin of The American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law; Managing Editor, Law Notes and Budget Director. From 2001 2003, she became Chair of the Allegheny Committee and third Vice President of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Her talented contralto voice gave her the opportunity to sing and solo in many church choirs and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. She is survived by her daughters, Marguerite O. Haus, husband, Richard Haus, Mary Vann Odom: grandchildren: James S. Haus, Elizabeth O. Haus, Emily O. Haus, Samuel H. Brown, and Hilary O. Brown: great- grandchild, Julia Leia Haus; and her sister, Anna Vann Milligan. The family will hold a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Stephen's Church, 405 Frederick Ave., Sewickley. Friends will be received after the service.
