HENDERSON GARY WAYNE Of East Liberty, passed away unexpectedly, on January 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on June 26, 1944. He was the son of the late George and Alice Henderson. Gary was a 1963 graduate of Peabody High School, where he earned all city honors in baseball and basketball. He received an athletic scholarship to Wichita University in Wichita, KS. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. He was employed by Allegheny Housing Authority and Allied Barton Security. He also participated in local politics, running for Mayor twice in 1989 and 1993, and serving as a Committeeman for over 20 yrs. Gary was an avid reader, and participated in the Senior Olympics at the Senior Center in East Liberty. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Alice Henderson; his brothers, Robert Lee, John Charles, and George Jackson, Jr.; and a sister, Minnie Mae. Gary leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Maria Pryor of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Anthony Henderson (Darlene); two sisters-in-law, Clara Henderson and Jean Henderson; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
