SIMMERMON LOIS JANE BOWDEN Age 91, of Longwood at Oakmont, passed away December 31, 2017. She was born on December 22, 1926, in Freeport, PA, to the late Clarence Andrew and Edith McCall Bowden, and was a 1944 graduate of Freeport High School. Lois received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and taught at Second Ward School in Tarentum, PA. Lois was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, PEO Chapter, the Garden Club of New Kensington, Women's Auxiliary Ashland University Board of Trustees and volunteer at St. Margaret's Hospital. Lois was a lifelong member of Methodist Churches and attended in Freeport, New Kensington, Arnold, Oakmont and Faith United Methodist in Fox Chapel. Lois was a member of the choir at the New Kensington Methodist Church, Oakmont Methodist Church, Faith United Methodist Church and Arnold Methodist Church. Lois loved to travel and visited all 50 states, over 60 countries and all seven continents. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James E. Simmermon; children James K. (Karen) of Allegheny Twp., Thomas (Pat) of Cranberry Twp., John of Phoenix, AZ, Lisa of Fredericksburg, VA and William (Renee) of Denver, CO and grandchildren Elise, Anne, Natalie, Zachary, Blake and Denver; and four great- grandchildren, Donovan, Ashton, Trey and Nathan. Friends and relatives will be received during a Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at the BURKET - TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Faith United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 261 W.
