SAUER ELIZABETH “BETTY” (KELLINGTON) Passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Shadyside Hospital, surrounded by family. Betty Kellington was born in Pittsburgh on December 14, 1935. A loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Regis (Red) Sauer; her parents, Chuck and Julia (Howard) Kellington; her beloved siblings, brothers, Chuck, Ed, Bob, Bill, Clem, and Leo Kellington and sisters, Sis (Gratton), Mary (Lipera), and Bernie (Lea-Passione). She is survived by her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and special friend, Ed Nemeth. Known as “Gram” to her grandchildren, she's remembered for baking soon after the grandkids arrived for visits and for sending care packages of homemade cinnamon rolls, apricot rolls, and cookies for the trip home. Betty had a sharp sense of humor, intentional or not, which would often leave her grandkids asking, “Did Gram just say what I think she said?” After the passing of her second husband, Red, Betty moved to Shaler, where she participated in many activities at, or sponsored by, The Millvale Senior Center. An avid bingo player with above average luck, she was right at home making new friends and even finding new love at the center. Betty's remains were donated to The Humanity Gift Registry, a private memorial will be held at a later date. The family asks that monetary contributions be made to The Betty Sauer Memorial Fund to benefit The Millvale Senior Center, 917 Evergreen Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15209. Arrangements entrusted to the ANTHONY M. MUSMANNO FUNERAL HOME, INC. Send condolences at post-gazette.com/gb
