KRAKOWER LAWRENCE J. Larry was a New York City native and served honorably as an Army medic in WWII. He and his brother, Stan, introduced Weight Watchers to the tri-state area in 1968 and helped countless people improve their health and self-esteem. He was a Thoroughbred racing enthusiast who bred/owned many winners. His pride and joy was Geechee Lou, a race mare that won both the San Gabriel Handicap and the San Luis Obispo Handicap. Larry died peacefully at his home in Pittsburgh on June 12, 2013 with his loving wife, Judy Thompson Krakower, by his side. He was 89. He is survived by Judy and his three children, Glenn Krakower, Michele Heiner and Linda Greene. He leaves three grandkids, Aaron and Amanda Heiner and Chas Basler.
