GIUSEPPINA NARDO Surrounded by her children, Giuseppina (Josephine) passed away peacefully April 29, 2020 at the age of 80. Giuseppina was born in Calabria, Italy in the small town of Maierato. After settling in Pittsburgh, Giuseppina resided in South Oakland for 51 years. Beloved wife of the late Eugenio Nardo; mother of Rosa Nardo (Barry), Maria (John) Torkos, Raymond (Amy), and Paula (Shawn) Leya. Giuseppina was lovingly referred to as Nana by her five grandchildren, Jean Marie Torkos, the late Alexendria Torkos, Nicholas, Jenna, and Mia Nardo. Giuseppina is survived by her older sister, Tina (Domenico) Marcello of Calabria, Italy, preceded in death by her sister, Vincenza (Domenico) Manno; also survived by her sister-in-law, Cecelia (Domenico) Sciulli; and her brother-in-law, Victor Nardo; as well as many nieces and nephews. Giuseppina worked for 20 years at Magee Women's Hospital where she was loved by all her co-workers as well as her dear neighbors of Oakland. Giuseppina enjoyed spending time with her family, creating delicious homemade meals, and working in her garden growing flowers and vegetables. Due to CDC requirements, funeral services are private.
