JOSEPH W. BUBAS Of O'Hara Township, formerly of Lawrenceville, passed away at his son, Mike's residence with his family by his side on Friday, May 1, 2020, just five days after his 96th birthday. Beloved husband of the late Pearl (Lipinski) Bubas. Preceded in death by his sister, Marie (Bubas) Nixon. Loving father of Joe (Josie) Bubas, Mike (Cathy) Bubas, Joann (Steve) Leya. Cherished grandfather of Joe and David Bubas, Stacey Slagle, Kristen Leya, Jennifer (Austin) Hyde, Michael and Mandy Bubas. Great-grandfather to Harlee Pearl Hyde, Scott and Samantha Slagle, and great-great-grandfather of three. Fatherly figure to his nephew, Thomas (Lorri) Nixon. Cousin to George Bubash. Joe was retired from the Veterans' Administration where he worked for 36 years. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was an avid fan of the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. Joe enjoyed playing golf at the North Park Golf Course. Due to current guidelines, visitation is private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Parish, Dorseyville Rd. Mass will also be private. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to AMVETS, 4647 Forbes Blvd., Lanham, MD 20706.
