SURZYN FRANK A. Age 93, father of Cherie Bartel of Monroeville and grandfather of Jarret Silagyi and Nick Bartel, passed away in Indianapolis, Indiana on Tuesday, July 16. Frank lived in Monroeville for 20 years before retiring to Indianapolis. Frank was a member of the American Legion, The Lions Club, and the VFW. He served in the United States Army during WWII as a tank commander under General George S. Patton in the 2nd Armored Division. Frank received combat medals for his service in the Invasion of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Occupation of Berlin. Frank was originally from Westville, IL and lived from 1936 to 1987 in Genoa City, WI. Frank was the town Barber and known as a true Home Town Boy, an American Patriot and a true friend to all. He will forever be missed and remembered by his loving wife of 66 years, Evelyn; his daughter, Cherie; grandchildren, Jarret Silagyi, Nick (Emily) Bartel and his extended family, Jon, Kathy, Brittany, and Jennifer Bartel and John, Brenda, Nicole, and Justin Petrilena. Visitation will be held at WOLFE MEMORIAL, INC., Forest Hills Chapel, 412-731-5001 on Monday, July 22 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Monroeville at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Services will follow at Plum Creek Cemetery.
