FISHER JAMES NORMAN, M.D. September 21, 1932 - March 13, 2015. Born in Pittsburgh, PA. Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Medical School (1958), U.S. Air Force Flight Surgeon (Korea), Santa Barbara family physician 1962- 1998, co-founder of Goleta Valley Community Hospital, Medical Director of Vista Del Monte Retired Teachers Home, co-founder of La Cumbre Medical - Dental Group. "Jim" lived an extraordinary life full of intellectual curiosity, family and friends. He was a wonderful healer, an avid musician and pianist, sports enthusiast, joke-teller, hiker, author of two published books, world traveler, gemologist and jewelry maker, genealogist, reader, lover of fine foods and drink (especially his weekly pizza from Petrini's), and most of all, Family Man. He adored and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty; his daughter, Kim Dryden (Dave); his son, Duane (Annabel); brother, Gerald (Donna); grandchildren, Dan (Sarah), Greg (Jayme), Jenna (Ben), James, Michael, Caleb, Julia and Savannah; great-grandchildren Lauren, Lindsey, Olivia, Myles, Jordan, and Hailey; nieces and nephews, Lynn (Kirk), Pam, Dave (Kristen); grandnieces and nephews, Hanna, Luke, Berkley, Cole, Troy and Payton; his adopted family from Japan, Kazuhiro, Teruya, Mitsuko, Haru and Susumu Morita; and many, many wonderful friends. Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Santa Barbara Elks Lodge, 150 N. Kellogg Ave., Santa Barbara.
