SUBA SR. MARY NAOMI On Monday, July 31, 2017, a member of the Felician Sisters of Moon Twp. for 53 years, at the age of 71. Sister was a native of Uniontown, PA and was the daughter of the late Anna (Sikora) and Frank Suba. Sister was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters, Loretta Trembolak, of FL and Esther Carrick, of AZ; nephews, John Trembolak and David Carrick; great-nephews; and almost 1,300 Felician Sisters worldwide. Friends will be received in the Felician Sisters Central Convent, 1500 Woodcrest Ave., Coraopolis, PA, on Friday, August 4, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a Sharing of Memories at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in the Convent Chapel. ODATO CHARLES S. “CHA” Charles S. Odato, age 97, of Stoneboro, formerly of Whitehall, on July 31, 2017. He is survived by his children, Chuck, Lynn, and Helen; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Ackerman) Odato; and parents, Pasquale and Nunziata Odato. Cha was a true "Jack of all Trades," as well as a master. He was a WWII veteran in which he participated in all theaters of war, a member of the Golden Dragon, was a Whitehall Police Officer, and a professional taxidermist. He founded the Brentwood Alumni Assoc. LANGNECKER JUNE CATHERINE Age 93, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Beaver, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017. Born June 14, 1924, in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Rena Triance. June was a 1942 graduate of Beaver High School, going on to proudly serve as a member of the U. S. Coast Guard, stationed in New York City. Upon her return to the area, she graduated from Garfield Business Institute, Beaver Falls, and was employed at the Beaver County Housing Authority and Gimbel's Department Store. June was a faithful parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver and an active volunteer of the Crimson Line Auxiliary at the former Beaver Valley Geriatric Center. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Langnecker; and three sisters, Eunice Beardshall, Patricia Waters, and Joan Triance. June will be sadly missed by two daughters, Sharron (William) Chimley, Knoxville, TN, and Debbie Burdine, Las Vegas, NV; a son, Michael (Janet) Langnecker, Hampton Township; eight grandchildren, Loree (Chip) Skvara, William (Alison) Chimley, Jr., Rick Burdine, Eric (Dana) Burdine, Robbie (Cindy) Burdine, Sonya (Brandon Westbrook) Burdine, Sean Langnecker, and Amy (Eric) Hersom; along with twelve great-grandchildren, Cole and Ben Skvara, Catherine and Virginia Chimley, Morgan, Sophie, Bailey, Bryce, Maggie, Lacey, and Caden Burdine, and Samantha Westbrook. June also leaves behind two sisters, Peggy (Kinsey) George, and Donna Reich. FATTAL FLORENCE Age 100, formerly of Beaver Falls, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Reformed Presbyterian Home in Pittsburgh where she resided. She was born and raised in Latakia, Syria and came to the United States in 1958. She graduated from Geneva College, Beaver Falls in 1962 with majors in English and Bible. In 1964 she received her M.A. degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh where she continued to advance her degree to 12 hours short of a Ph.D. Florence devoted her entire life to the Reformed Presbyterian Church as a deaconess for 15 years, treasurer and various other church affiliated organizations. Miss Fattal was employed as an Assistant Librarian at Geneva College for nearly 27 years, where she volunteered for nine years after her retirement in 1991. Stan grew up in Homewood, and also lived in Fox Chapel, and Los Angeles before retiring to Naples, FL. WOSCEK IRENE Age 79, of West Deer Township, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, Tuesday, July 25, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born in Vandergrift to the late John and Agnes (Sadecky) Svezeny. Irene grew up in Vandergrift and graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1956. After graduating she worked as a key punch operator at US Steel. Soon after that she married William and raised her family. She was devoted to her church and the rosary. In her teenage years, she was a member of the Sodality of Holy Trinity Church in Vandergrift. She was a wonderful cook who delighted in baking for her family. Her specialty was traditional Slovak food. She also enjoyed listening to the Saturday afternoon polkas. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William Woscek of Gibsonia; her children, Martin (Lorraine) Woscek, Diane (Erik) Schultz, Paul (Juliette) Woscek, Kathleen (James) Cardellini; and her grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew, and Adam Schultz. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Sutara, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sister Estelle Svezeny, OSB. A private Funeral Mass was conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Victors R.C. Church in Bairdford, with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating. BARTHE HENRY P. Henry Prosper Barthe, age 87, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Helen Wagner Barthe, died Wednesday evening, August 2, 2017, at Memorial University Medical Center. Born in Lock No. 4, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Charles Victor Barthe and the late Augustine Castainer Barthe. Mr. Barthe was a member of Montgomery Presbyterian Church and a former member of Christ Presbyterian Church Pooler. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, USA for more than 50 years and an Elder Emeritus at Christ Presbyterian Church Pooler. Mr. Barthe was a Merchant Marine officer and a United States Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a mechanical engineer who retired as a Vice President with Schroeder Industries in Pittsburgh, manufacturers of mining and hydraulic testing equipment. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norva Dorothy Jacobs; and a brother, Charles Louis Barthe. Surviving are one daughter, Jean B. Strong and her husband, Keith, of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Wayne W. Barthe and his wife, Carol, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Samantha S. Strong, Brandon R. Yingling, William “Bill” P. Bohr and Jeremiah S. Williams. The memorial service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, August 6, 2017, at Montgomery Presbyterian Church. Private inurnment will be at Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the social hall after the memorial service. BOECKER GARY JAMES Age 63, of Pepper Pike, died July 21, 2017, in Cleveland, surrounded by his loving family and in the arms of his wife, Abigail (Gold) Boecker. Cherished son of Theodore James Boecker and the late Norma Jean (Rush) Boecker; beloved father of Sarah Elizabeth Boecker; treasured brother of Kenneth Boecker and John (Lisa) Boecker; son-in-law of Ronald and Eileen Gold; cherished brother-in-law of Kathryn and Herman Fox and Debra S. Gold; loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Gary was a graduate of Baldwin High School, in Pittsburgh, Penn State University, and the University of Akron School of Law. Gary was proud to become an Eagle Scout at the age of 14. He was a brother of Sigma Pi Fraternity and later lettered as a varsity lacrosse player at Penn State. Gary spent two memorable summers in Los Angeles as Bob Hope's personal assistant. In his career he helped establish more than 100 businesses and he was a contributing author of four books in the area of business and estate planning. Gary loved to travel, was an avid nature lover, hiker, biker or simply got joy from a walk on the labyrinth. He never met a beach chair that he didn't love. He was deeply caring to those he held close and passionately, devoted to his two dogs. He was a man with a quiet inner strength. His gentle, thoughtful manner will be greatly missed by those he touched along his journey. She attended many classes at Point Park University, where she was eight credits shy of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. She was on the starting committee and staff which enabled The Headstart Program to be commissioned in the Pittsburgh area, which began in 1965, she had a desire for all children to have a fighting chance for education that would develop and enhance their growth, and give them an opportunity to advance in society. JESENSKY JAMES C. James C. 'Jess' Jesensky, age 82, of Finleyville, formerly of Castle Shannon and Avella, died Monday, July 31, 2017, at his home. He was born May 12, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a son of Andrew and Stella Ercoli Jesensky. Mr. Jesensky was retired as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Upper St. Clair. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and also in the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Jesensky was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and American Legion Post 643 in Avella. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Charlotte Vodzak Jesensky; three sons, Jim Jesensky (Jessica) of Canonsburg, Jason Jesensky (Shona) of Mountain View, CA and Jeff (Danielle) Jesensky of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Theresa Sekely (Brian) of South Park; two brothers, Albert and Andrew Jesensky; two sisters, Eleanor Rowe and Bernadette Klose; ten grandchildren, Lila, Erin, Kyle, Elsa, Lucy, Jack and Maggie Jesensky and Samantha, Sydney and Sara Sekely; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, Edward Jesensky. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at KEGEL FUNERAL HOME, INC., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, David P. Kegel, director, 3560 Washington Avenue, in Finleyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Finleyville, with Reverend Richard J. Tusky as celebrant. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Condolences to kegelfuneralhome.com.
