ETZEL LAURA JEAN (EMRICK) Laura Jean (Emrick) Etzel, age 86, of Hampton Township, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Born March 14, 1931 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Laura Amelia (Weissert) Emrick. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Carl M. Etzel, Sr.; three children, Susan, Carl and Laura; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Laura met the love of her life in Shaler High School, where they both played trombone in the marching band. She attended Indiana State Teachers College, now IUP and received a degree in music education. She went on to teach elementary music in many schools, including Dehaven, which was her school growing up. She played organ and directed choirs at a number of churches, including her home Church of Parkwood United Presbyterian Church. Laura was also a member of Eastern Star. The family will welcome friends at 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Parkwood United Presbyterian Church in Allison Park, with Rev. Jeffrey Potter officiating. She will be laid to rest at Mount Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw. Family suggests memorial donations in Laura's honor to Parkwood United Presbyterian Church, 4289 Mt. GOLDSTEIN MARILYN (FELDSHUE) VERK Of Monroeville, on Thursday, November 2, 2017, after a brief illness at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by beloved husbands, Harold W. Goldstein and Rody S. Verk. She is survived by loving children, Rita (Verk) and Stuart Zolot, of Mt. Lebanon and Robert and Lynn Verk, of Edgewood, MD; also survived by loving grandchildren, Suzanna Zolot, David Zolot, Stephanie Verk, and Sam Verk; and niece, Elyse Feldshue Weiner (Allan), of Rockville, MD; also survived by several nephews and cousins. As a young wife and mother, Marilyn actively volunteered for Pioneer Women (now NA'AMAT) and Temple David Sisterhood. Along with both her husbands, she volunteered for the JWV and their auxiliary. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for several local companies. She loved her friends in Pittsburgh and Florida playing MahJonng and shopping at Costco. She was addicted to Chinese food, always missed the Tea Garden Restaurant from Kelly Street, and Marilyn never gave up the quest to find the best Chinese food. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren, and they loved her. Marilyn was the daughter of the late Ethel (Cohen) and Jack Feldshue, of NYC, Squirrel Hill and Monroeville; and the sister of the late Gene Feldshue. Services and Interment PRIVATE. He is survived by his children, Terri Alexander (Greensboro, NC) James Alexander (Jacksonville, FL) Beth Swanson (High Point, NC) Jeff Alexander (Grass Valley, CA); and six grandchildren. Jim worked with the California Racing Association for most of his career. He continued his career in horse racing by opening up his own business, Trax Fax, which he retired from when he had a stroke. MULHERAN ANNE D. (DAVIES) On November 1, 2017, Anne Davies Mulheran, age 91, of Munhall, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born in Ironton, Ohio the daughter of John and Edith (Carlson) Davies and graduated from Lisbon High School. She attended Westminster College. Anne married Michael Mulheran in 1948 and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Michael and brothers David and Thomas Davies. Anne was a very caring, loving and supportive mother who spent a large part of her life devoted to caring for her six children and nine grandchildren. She entered the workforce to support her children when she became a widow at a young age and was an employee of the PA Dept. of Environmental Resources. Anne had a deep love for the arts and was a talented watercolor painter and member of the "Monday Painters", McMurray Art League. She loved traveling, sewing, gardening, and playing cards with the "Club Ladies" in Munhall for 50 years. Loving mother of the late Alice (husband Tony survives) Novosel, John (Kathy) Mulheran, Kathleen (Ronald) King, Clare (Gary) Torso, Michael Mulheran, Susan (Donald) Gruber; Cherished grandmother of Emily Mulheran, Kayla Frances Mulheran, Ellen (James) Richey, Jessica (Bjorn) King-Kafsack, Justin King, Lauren (Steve) Orkis, Kathleen Torso, Michael Gruber and great granddaughter Penelope King-Kafsack.
