ZIGROSSI SAMUEL ANTHONY AGE 26...
ZIGROSSI SAMUEL ANTHONY Age 26, of Wexford, PA, died suddenly on August 10, 2018, due to an allergic reaction to bee stings. Born on January 11, 1992, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the beloved son of Dr. Richard J. and Annette Hochrein Zigrossi; adored brother of Dr. Dominic A. Zigrossi, Eve-Marie (Dr. Scott) Welch, Dr. Luke (Gina) Zigrossi, Elise (fiancé Joseph Fields) Zigrossi, and Dr. Patrice Zigrossi. He shared an incredibly close bond with his five brothers and sisters, by whom he was deeply loved. Nephew of Joe (late Barbara) Hochrein, Celeste (Dr. Woodson Mader) Hochrein, Michael (Christine) Hochrein, and Dr. Jake (Lisa) Hochrein. Their excellent examples and love were always an inspiration to Sam and helped him to become the outstanding person he was. Proud Uncle of Joseph, Laila, and Jacob Welch, Amelia, Alana, and Anna Zigrossi. He is also survived by many dear cousins and close, loyal friends. Sam attended Pine-Richland High School and graduated with honors in 2010. While in school, he held a part-time job as a skate guard at North Park Skating Rink where his dream was to drive the Zamboni. He was a proud honors graduate at Penn State University, University Park, where he majored in Immunology and Toxicology. He worked as a scribe at a Trauma Emergency Department in Norfolk, VA. It was here that his love of medicine grew and his caring nature shined. He was a third year medical student at VCOM in Auburn, AL. While there, he met fellow medical student, Kalei Rollins, who became the love of his life. They hoped to follow the same path, together, and pursue a career in Emergency Medicine. Sam enjoyed the challenge of mountain biking and lacrosse, but parallel parking his suburban one-handed was his real sport. Overall, it was fishing with his dad and brothers that he loved the most. He excelled at the piano, where he could play anything from classical to Disney tunes, for his nieces and nephews, and he was also blessed with the gift of natural improvisation. Because of his humble nature, not many people knew that he was an incredible woodworker, was able to fix anything, and also enjoyed creating pottery. But, what most people did know, is that he took exceptional pride in his ability to grow a stunning beard and mustache. Sammy had a sweetly clever sense of humor. Sam carried a donor card, but his wishes were unfulfilled due to the severity of his allergic reaction. However, he had a magnificent heart because it was genuine and full of care and love. Above all, Sammy should always be remembered for his true kindness. Friends received Thursday, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Sepulcher Church with interment to follow in Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery.
