WOODBURN MORROW "WOODY," Jr. Age 73, of Wexford, formerly of Avalon, peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Beloved son of the late Morrow M. and Virginia (Kruse) Woodburn, Sr.; cousin of Esther Scheibel, Cordie, Garth and Brandt Scheidemantel, Howard and Robert Grey, Robert White, Jr., Bonnie Hollis, Ella Jakub, Donald Kruse and the late John "Jack" Woodburn; also survived by best friend, Jay Thomas. Mr. Woodburn taught in the North Hills School District for 40 years and was the ninth grade boys basketball coach for 32 years. Woody was inducted into the North Hills School District Sports Hall of Fame on September 5, 2013 and was Master of Ceremonies and supporter of the North Hills Band Festival. He was instrumental in the lives of the students that he taught, coached and mentored. Woody was also a life long member of Greenstone United Methodist Church and donated much of his time to the church. PAPPERT DALE E . Age 72 of Brighton Heights, unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Beloved husband of 46 years to Karyn (Wentland) Pappert; dear son of the late Elizabeth (Streno) and Joseph E. Pappert. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Wayne J. (Mary Louise); and his brother-in-law, Dr. K. Barry (Megan) Wentland; also survived by four nieces and nephews, and ?ve great- nieces and great-nephews. Dale was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School and Villanova University where he earned his bachelors degree in education. He did graduate work at Indiana University of PA and Oxford University in England. Dale taught English for 30 years in the Pine-Richland School District. He loved astronomy and was thrilled to view the 2017 total solar eclipse in S.C. with Jimmy and Trish Mushinsky, Terry and Tammy Mullen, Barry and Megan Wentland, and his wife, Karyn. Dale also enjoyed cooking, writing, vegetable-gardening, learning about wine, and following the Villanova Wildcats. RAMSEY JAMES HERRINGTON "JIM", JR . Age 78, of Boston, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018. He was born September 8, 1940 in Braddock and was the son of the late James Herrington Ramsey Sr. and Virginia Appell Ramsey. Jim was a graduate of PIA and loved planes, going for walks at Mingo Creek Park and small game hunting with his brother, Duke. He worked for the former Mackintosh Hemphill Company for many years and would later retire from the produce department at Giant Eagle at the Homestead Waterfront. Jim was an avid shooter and a proud NRA Benefactor and a member of the Clairton Sportsman Club. He was also an assistant scout master with boy scout troop 99, a former Elder in The Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, the ?rst assistant Chief of the former Boston Vol. Fire Co and a life member of the Greenock Vol. Fire Co. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra L. Frank Ramsey; sisters, Antoinette "Toni" (the late Walter) Bittner of West Mif?in and Joy (David) Shussett of Oakland, CA; brother, Lucien P. MORRIS WILBURN L . The husband of Karen Michael, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018. He was the beloved father of Stan, Susan, John and David; he had nine grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. He served in the US Army during WWII in Europe and when the war ended attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In 1947 he married Ruth Elizabeth Stevens Morris, his wife of 61 years, who preceded him in death in 2008. His career with JCPenney began in Tacoma, Washington, and ended in New York, New York where he retired as Senior Vice President and Director of Stores. True to form, his retirement years continued to be as productive and exciting as preceding years. He served on the Board of the Army Air Force Exchange and as a volunteer raised funds to support students at Berea College. Always a person of adventure, he helped businesses outside the US, became an instrument rated pilot, and spent a year traveling through 50 countries around the globe with only the provisions he carried in a backpack. He enjoyed seeing the world from the point of view of ordinary people and published a book, Around the Next Corner, describing some of his experiences. His faith and the church were an important part of his life; he was ordained as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in 1949 and served in that capacity in three different congregations. He was active in the Pittsburgh Presbytery for six years and was a delegate to the General Assembly in Fort Worth, Texas. IANNACE CAROL (SIMPSON) Age 82 of Swissvale, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018. Carol was born in Mt. Pleasant to the late Richard N. Simpson and Grace E. (Gunder) Simpson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Iannace and her beloved son, Michael A. Iannace. She is survived by her loving brother, Richard Simpson of Hialeah, FL; her daughters, Terri Dickerson of North Braddock, Michele Iannace of Torrance, CA; and daughter-in-law, Lety (Garza Cruz) Iannace of North Huntingdon. Carol was the dear grandmother to Jessica Dickerson Liebro, Crystal M. Iannace and Michael R. Iannace; great-grandma of Owen and Benjamin Liebro; aunt of Diana Simpson Wasnick; and great-aunt to Olivia Wasnick. Carol was a cheerleader at Duquesne High School and also taught dancing at Arthur Murray. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, bowling, early morning visits to the gym (spa) with her friends and travel adventures with her brother and his wife. After retiring from her job as head cashier at Kroger's, she enjoyed using her free time being “grandma daycare” for the youngest grandchildren, Crystal and Michael. She was a longtime Volunteer at Zion Lutheran Church of Rahway, where she served as Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher on the Church council, was a President and member of WELCA and belonged to the sewing group. Mrs. Waldron was a Pre-school and Lunch Aide for the Board of Education of Union for 10 years. She was a lifetime member of the PTA. She also taught cake decorating at Adult Night School in Union, Roselle and Roselle Park. Mrs. Waldron was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald James (Jim) Waldron; and her brothers, Robert and Allen Kagle. DROZ SARAH "MINNIE" Age 97, passed peacefully at Charles Morris Nursing Home in Pittsburgh on December 25, 2018, having recently been a much-loved resident of Weinberg Terrace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Annie Justa; husband of 54 years, Sidney; sisters, Faye Lipman and Dora Baron; brothers, Louis, Sam and Jacob Justa; and son, Alan Droz. Born November 1, 1921, in Richmond, Virginia to Yiddish speaking Russian immigrants, Minnie never completely lost her smooth southern drawl, even when she spoke Yiddish. She learned to sew at a young age, making her own clothes, and loved to dance. In 1931, she married Sidney, a welder working in Newport News, Virginia and also a great dancer, then moved to Pittsburgh, Sid's hometown, to raise their sons in Brookline while Sid built a successful business. Apart from sewing and dancing, Minnie was also a great cook and an active member of Beth El Congregation Sisterhood in the South Hills. After Sid's death in 1985, Minnie moved to Ft. Lauderdale, continuing to sew, dance and volunteer as an usher at local theaters. She also started Minnie Droz Designs where she made and donated purses to local non-pro?ts and enjoyed cruises and traveling. When she moved to Weinberg Terrace, she became an active resident, always enjoying Bingo, weekly trips to cultural events and mending for other residents. After her memory began to waver, and residents wondered whatever happened to their pants, she gave up mending, but continued to entertain her fellow residents with her sharp wit, insight and wonderful stories.   She is survived by her sons, Dan (Cathy) and Gary (Shelley); grandchildren, Lani (Michael), David (Allie), Ben, Becca, Lauren (Oren) and Sara; as well as great-grandchildren, Sid, Molly, Shoshanna, Maayan, Noah and Eli. Services and Interment private. Shiva will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Weinberg Terrace. ANDERSON NANCY JEAN A life-long resident of Coraopolis and beloved wife of the late William “Rick” Richard Anderson, passed away on December 25, 2018. She was 67. She was the daughter of the late Maxine and Walter Burkhart of McKees Rocks. She is survived by her son, Derek W. Anderson (Erin) of Pittsburgh, PA; and by her two brothers, Dan Burkhart of McKees Rocks, PA and Russel Burkhart of Butler, PA. Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Robert Burkhart; and her sister, Maxine Cieslak (Burkhart). Following the untimely passing of her husband, Rick, in 1986 Nancy raised Derek on her own. She was determined and successful in providing a good life for her and her son. Nancy had many different jobs, sometimes holding up to three positions at the same time, from working in hotels to her most recent position as a customer consultant at FedEx Of?ce.   She prided herself on her work ethic, but loved spending time with her family, including the many dogs she owned over her life.   Nancy made many friends and everyone that knew her will remember her sly sense of humor, quick wit and giving nature. She will be greatly missed.
