MYERS PHILIP J. Born December 27, 1933 to Francis and Marguerite Myers in McKee Rocks PA, died peacefully in Summit, NJ surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Joanne Myers; and his seven children, Phil Myers (Diane) of Phoenix, AZ, Michelle Audsley Myers of San Francisco, CA, Kevin Myers (Wendy) of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Myers (deceased), Mary Beth Johnson (Matt) of Summit, NJ, Sean Myers (Amy) of Dallas, TX, and Maggie Songer (Aaron) of Philadelphia, PA; Philip had 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; he is survived by one brother, Colonel James Myers (Billie Ann) of Goldsboro, NC; Phil is also brother to Marguerite Pilcher (deceased) and Francis Myers (deceased). Born and raised in McKees Rocks, PA, Phil attended St. James High School in the West End, where he met Joanne, his high school sweetheart. Phil graduated from Duquesne University in 1956 with a degree in Industrial Design, and worked for US Steel in Pittsburgh for 20 years. Phil and Joanne had seven children in 14 years. They started their young married life in Ingram, where Joanne and Phil were active members of St. Philips Catholic Church in Crafton, PA. They spent eight happy years in their ?rst home, moving to the North Hills in 1966. Phil changed jobs to Johnson Bronze in New Castle, PA and subsequently to the US Postal Service working as the Finance Director for Pittsburgh. Phil and Joanne were active members of the St. Sebastian Catholic Parish, eventually serving as Eucharistic Ministers. Phil, Dad, Pappap is remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and adored grandfather who made family and faith the center of his life. He will be celebrated as a man who found meaning and purpose in small acts of kindness, presence, love, and laughter to the people around him: In a gentle way you can shake the world. He taught others through his actions and choices in life. The things that made his heart sing: swimming, body sur?ng, dancing, ?xing things, eating dinner with his family at 6 p.m. every night, worshipping the sun, music, being an expert packer with the heightened gift of spatial awareness, having a keen sense of direction, as well as being a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pirates, the Penguins, Penn State, Occidental, Delbarton, St. Mary's, Princeton, and Amherst, enjoying his hometown sports and watching his grandchildren play for their universities. Preceded in death by daughter, Elisa; brothers, Frank Duca, Sr., married to Grace Sostaric, Johnstown, PA, John Duca, married to Elvira Messina, Delmont, PA, and Peter Duca, married to Ann Yagich, Campbell, OH; and sisters, Nancy Duca, Rose Cerula, married to Andrew Cerula, Johnstown, PA, Carmela Duca and Josephine Duca in early childhood. Survived by wife of 60 years, Zoraida Gutierrez Sanchez; and children, Dr. Robert Anthony, Jr., married to Lourdes Rexach, Vienna, VA, Frederick Joseph, married to Mary Pamela Barks, Warrenton, VA and Dr. Mark Anthony, married to Megan Keisling, Oakdale, PA. Survived by eight grandchildren, Frederick Joseph Duca, Jr., Michael Anthony Duca, Daniel James Duca, Mary Elisa Duca, Christopher Anthony Duca, Katherine Ann Duca, Robert Anthony Duca III, and Giovanni Antonio Duca. Also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Dr. Robert Anthony Duca, Sr., was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Duca earned a master's degree in Italian from Middlebury College and a master's degree in Spanish from Kent State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Spanish Language and Civilization at The Pennsylvania State University. Spending over 45 years in academia, Dr. Duca held faculty positions at Hubbard High School (OH), Greater Johnstown Area Vocational Technical School, Slippery Rock University and Youngstown State University. Dr. Duca was an Associate Professor of Humanities and Foreign Languages at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and retired as chairman of the language department. He was honored by both the Spanish and Italian Governments for his work in the education of non-native speaking students. Dr. Duca spoke Spanish, French, Italian and Sicilian ?uently and continued to donate his time teaching, translating and writing books after his retirement. A long-standing member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, he served as President of Joseph Johns Lodge 214 and as National Vice President and Chief Historian. Dr. Duca was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served at Ft. Buchanan, San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus until relocating to Warrenton, Virginia late in retirement. He was also an active member of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Alumni Association. Dr. Duca, or "Bob" as he was known by all, was a loving father, trusted sibling, and dedicated educator. He was passionate about sharing his life experiences with all those with whom he came into contact. His love of life and perpetual amicability will be profoundly missed. SABO JOHN R . "JACK" Age 86, of Murrysville, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 11, 2019 following a long battle with prostate cancer. Jack was born on January 6 , 1933 in Munhall, son of the late John and Anna (Urasek) Sabo. He was the youngest of ?ve children. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis (O'Keefe) Sabo; brothers, Steve Sabo and Bob Sabo; and sisters, Helen (Babe) Tartaglione and Anna Mae Tolan. Jack is survived by his children, Joyce (Jim) Kirkpatrick, John (David Glinski) Sabo, and Kathleen (Steve) Dovidio; along with his grandchildren, Ian and Maureen Kirkpatrick, Sydney, Joshua, and Noah Sabo, and Jack, Kyle, and Luke Dovidio. Jack proudly served in the Army during the Korean War as a Cpl. with the 199th Engineering Battalion. He was a graduate of Munhall High School (1950) and Duquesne University (1964). He had a 47-year career with Westinghouse as a manufacturing engineer. Jack loved to spend his free time gol?ng with the Cloverleaf Senior Golf League, ?shing with friends and his brother-in-law, Dan, and camping and boating with his family. SCHEIDER MICK I want to announce that I have decided to take a long vacation! It began on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the age of 75. The most beautiful person - Dorth - left this world before me! I miss her every day! I said to her and still say to her every night, "Goodnight Dorth, I love you and I'll see you in the morning." To our children, Amy (Rege) and Michael (Kathy); and grandchildren, Kayla, Maddy, Logan, and Liam you know we love you all and thank you for loving us back! We were blessed with and proud of our children and grandchildren. They are so beautiful and have grown into ?ne young adults. I want to thank my brothers, Carl (Judy) and Steve (Wendy) and their families for putting up with my funny ways. To all of our friends and relatives thank you for being so good and thoughtful to Dorth and Me! All me and Dorth ever wanted was a couple of ?ne children and a wonderful life together and we enjoyed both. My wife Dorth said there is going to be a special screening of the Wizard of Oz at her beachfront condo, so I've decided to go. If anyone asks, I'm on a long vacation. Always remember we are only renting this place, so you better enjoy yourself while you're here. She married Francis McNally on February 21, 1952, and the couple had nine children together. As a widow, she worked while raising her family and attended Allegheny County Community College earning an Associate Degree in Nursing. She enjoyed her career as a Registered Nurse for many years working in the Labor and Delivery Department at Ohio Valley General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Rita had a life-long fondness for animals, a trait that lives on in all her children. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Francis; and sons, Michael and Daniel. She is survived by sons, Patrick and Philip; daughters, Ruth, Mary (Tom Iracki) and Julia (Justin Herman), Kathleen Robertson (Gregory), and Margaret Jarvis; daughter- in-law, Cindy McNally; grandchildren, Lee Jarvis and Ashley Barrett (William); and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Wyatt and Walker. RUSHTON FRANCES M. (BRODNIK) Age 94 of Crafton Heights, peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Wife of the late Paul V. Rushton; loving and devoted mother of Jane Quasey; grandmother of Bailey (Tony) Morres; great-grandmother of Warren and Owen Morres; beloved sister of Ann Midili and the late Dorothy Gray, John and Frank Brodnik; also survived by nieces and nephews. CLOUSE DR . ARTHUR C. "ART" The family of Dr. Arthur C. Clouse (known by all as Art) join together to mourn his passing on December 20, 2018. Art passed away in his beloved home away from home, M akaha Beach, HI, his paradise where he spent half the year and was already halfway to heaven. Art was born in Somerset, Ohio on October 9, 1934 and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of Arthur C. Clouse, Sr, a steelworker, and Mary Alice McAllister, and is survived by his children, Gene Clouse and his wife, Diane, of Fairfax, VA, and their children, Robert, Charlie and JP; son, Joe Clouse and his wife, Sandy, of Ridge?eld, CT, and their children, Lindsay, John and Stephen; daughter, Jenny Gardiner and her husband, Scott, of Charlottesville, VA, and their children, Kyle, Kendall and Gillian; and son, Rob Clouse and his wife, Karen, of Roswell, GA, and their children, Billy, Chloe and Ellie. He leaves behind his sister, Nancy Frankowski; and brother, Jimmy Clouse; and 18 nieces and nephews. A graduate from Pittsburgh's Central Catholic High School in 1952, Art was on Central's state champion basketball team and a stellar student. He worked his way through both undergraduate and dental school at Pitt, driving construction dump trucks for construction to pay for his education. He graduated from dental school in 1959 and soon after married Catie (Cathy) Orr, then served two years as a dentist in the Navy in Parris Island, S.C. before attending orthodontic school on a scholarship at Fairleigh Dickinson in New Jersey. Art was a member of Longue Vue Country Club for 40 years. He was involved with Pitt's Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, the American Association of Orthodontists, Central Catholic High school alumni organizations, the American Dental Association, and the Pitt Alumni Dental program. Art's legacy will live on in the beautiful smiles he helped enhance for many family members as well thousands of patients.
