BARTOS JOSEPH Age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2019 in his beloved home, surrounded by his family. The son of Polish immigrants, Pearl and Louis, Joe and his three brothers, Ed, Ted and Chuck, were raised in a small house in Horning, PA. Joe was an amazing athlete, graduating from Baldwin High School with four-year varsity letters in golf, soccer, football, and basketball. Joe loved his country and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II as paymaster on eight different vessels. Honorably discharged on August 1, 1946, he always proudly waved an American ?ag in his yard.   Joe's major passion in life was golf.   Working as a caddy at South Hills Country Club during his youth is where his love affair for the game began. He beat Arnold Palmer in an "18-hole match play event" in high school. In 1973, Joe married Draga Bartos and they together owned and managed the Southern Star, a local Baldwin bar/restaurant, best known for its ?sh sandwiches, homemade soups, and family feel.   Joe was extremely proud of his Polish heritage, but upon marrying Draga, he became inducted into "little Brajcino" (Macedonian Village) on Brightview Avenue in Whitehall. He was suddenly immersed in pepper gardens, zelnik, unending front porch discussions (most times in a different language) at Baba's, and relatives who grew to love him as one of their own.   Joe was a funny guy, with non-stop one-liners. He was a great storyteller, and even better debater, especially around politics, religion or the latest headlines.   But his greatest gift of all was as a father and grandfather to his family. His family, especially his grandchildren, meant everything to him, and swelled him with non-stop pride. He loved unconditionally and was our biggest cheerleader. Joe is survived by so many, who miss him already. Wife, Draga; daughter, Patti (Rade) Opacic; grandchildren, Mirce and Melina; two daughters, Marcia and Cindy and their families; brother, Chuck; and numerous nieces and nephews who helped care for him to the end.   Please join us in celebrating his life at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC ., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227   on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 3-8 p.m.   Pomen at 7:30 p.m.   Funeral Service on Thursday, January 17, 2019 in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral at 10:00 a.m.   Interment will follow in St. Sava Cemetery. There will NOT be an hour visitation in church prior to the service, however all are welcome to process from the funeral home. In lieu of ?owers, please make donations to Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 450 Maxwell Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. MOLINARI RONALD "RON" RONALD ...

MOLINARI RONALD "RON" Ronald "Ron" Molinari, the man who devoted his life to the care and concern of others, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019, following a brief illness. Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Ron instantly picked up on his gentle, kind-hearted, comedic nature. Born in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania on September 14, 1954, Ron was raised in a traditional Italian family, where, as being the only child he was the king of the household. His grandparents resided alongside him and his parents and it was here that his devotion to family began. This was also where Ron's quirky and humorous side developed. For instance, one day he assumed the role of God and climbed a tree with the water hose and “cooled” down his grandparents below. It is no surprise that Alex also developed his own sense of harmless playfulness. During high school, Ron ran track and was involved in extracurricular pursuits. Ron attended Youngstown State University, where he was active in fraternity life and academic superiority, obtaining his bachelor's in accounting. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alexandria (DeSantis) Molinari; and his father, Gildo Molinari. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Rose (Angelo) Molinari; and his adored son, Alex Molinari; along with cousins; and uncle, George Sewecke. Taking care of his family and friends had always been focal to Ron. From his daily phone chats, breakfast dates, family vacations, and musical performances, Ron stayed connected and active with the people that were dear to his heart. The simplicities of life meant a lot to Ron. From the music of the 60s, to books on past presidents, to cultivating his own ?g trees (following in his father's footsteps), to cheering on the Steelers on Football Sunday, Ron lived life to the fullest. Ron and Rose could have started their own comedy series from all their antics, but they were always together and connected. Alex kept Ron on his toes, always beckoning his dad to the next thrill and adventure. Ron also had a huge passion for animals and his buddy Charlotte (the cat) surely misses his presence. In lieu of ?owers, the family asks that you consider contributing to Animal Friends, a no-kill animal shelter in the Pittsburgh area.   Ron was an exceptional person and he touched a lot of people in special ways. In order to bid our buddy a ?nal farewell, visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 3-8 p.m. at COPELAND MOON TWP. FUNERAL HOME, 981 Brodhead Road where prayers will be recited Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 9 a.m. followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Margaret Mary Church Moon Township. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends and family are also invited to join in on a memory luncheon that will be held following the funeral services (location to be determined). Rose and Alex wish to thank all the wonderful folks that have provided comfort, care, and love during this dif?cult time. They wish to encourage everyone to keep Ron alive through spreading kindness, excitement, enjoyment and humor in all areas of life because those were the essences of his being. This will ensure that this wonderful man's legacies will continue in the hearts and minds of all that were blessed enough to encounter him and beyond. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
