BELLIN MARIE A. (CHIODO) Age 84, unexpectedly but peacefully at home on January 23, 2019, of Green Tree. She was the beloved wife of William C. Bellin; mother of Joseph F. (deceased) and Elaine M. Bellin (Phyllis Coontz); grandmother of Joshua W. and David L. Bellin; and beloved sister of the late Sam Chiodo (Charmin). Marie was the loving aunt to 18 nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter. A faithful and devout Catholic, she attended Sunday masses regularly at St. Paul of the Cross Monastery and more recently and closer to home, Marion Manor Chapel in Green Tree. In the mid 1970s, she discovered the spiritual and calming music of the Monks of Weston Priory, Weston Vermont. She continued her travels there throughout her life, and loved sharing the Brothers' music and teachings with others and would regularly take family and friends to the Priory in Vermont. There was nothing she loved more than spending Sunday afternoons over a traditional Italian meal and Steelers game with her family. Marie was a gifted and accomplished singer and as a young woman sang in the assemble of the CLO with such notables as Shirley Jones. In addition to her love of music, Marie was a “die hard” Steelers fan and rarely missed a game. One of her fondest stories about the Steelers was seeing the Immaculate Reception in 1972 when the Steelers beat the Oakland Raiders in the last 30 seconds of the game. Like many Pittsburghers, she believed the win was divine intervention. She also followed the Pirates and Penguins. After Rivers Casino opened in 2009, Marie could often be found in the Poker Room playing “Texas Hold 'Em” and came to be known as “the Poker Queen” winning several poker tournaments there. There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 9 at St. Paul of the Cross Monastery, South Side at 10:00 a.m. Contributions can be made to Vincentian Marion Manor in Green Tree.
