RICHARD SCOTT KIRSCHLER, JR. "SCOTT" On Friday, October 9, 2020, Richard Scott Kirschler, Jr., ("Scott") passed away suddenly. He was 54 years old. Scott was born on June 21, 1966, in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Westminster University and received a Bachelor's in Business. Upon graduating, he started working in the steel industry starting his career in inside sales and working his way into management. He spent most of his career working for Samuel Specialty Metals in Hertimage, PA. Beginning in high school, Scott found his passion in the game of golf. He was on the golf team at Westminister and enjoyed caddying. His position as a salesman allowed him to golf at many courses and allowed him to have the opportunity to be a member at Firestone Country Club in Ohio. The loves of his life were his three children, Abby, Jack and Chris. Throughout the years, he was involved in coaching their sports teams and was their biggest cheerleader in life. He would always tell them that they could be anything and do anything that they set their mind on. He would say You are a Kirschler and you are 10 feet tall and bullet proof In addition to his children, Scott is survived by his father, R. Scott Kirschler, Sr.as well as his brother, John Andrew Kirschler. He was predeceased by his mother, Susan Price Kirschler. He is also survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews. JEAN P. WEIMER After 94 years of a joy-filled life, Jean P. Weimer passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 7, 2020 in Hilton Head, SC. Born August 17, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Ralph and Eva Patton, Jean graduated from South Hills High School. Jean spent most of her life in West Mifflin, PA. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and enjoyed the symphony and any live musical performance. Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge and golfing with her friends. Jean was a lifelong member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, where she was active in the Christian Servitors. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Weimer; sister, Edith Dale; son-in-law, David Crunkleton; and grandson, Brad Steele. Jean is survived by her three daughters, Dawn Crunkleton of Hilton Head, Linda Shilatz (Nick) of McMurray, PA, and Martha Steele (Bob) of Hilton Head; nephew, Lee Dale (Donna) of Carbondale, CO; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. His greatest lesson was how to love. He was the consummate example of patience, strength, and generosity for everyone around him. He is loved and will be greatly missed. GEORGE JOHN JAKABCSIN George John Jakabcsin, 81, of Ross Township, joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was being cared for at UPMC Passavant Hospital in the North Hills, and he passed with his loving wife by his side. He was born November 8, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, to George and Anna Jakabcsin. In 1965, he married his beautiful bride, Mary. She is still with us and continues to be the matriarch of his wonderful and warmhearted family. Also, surviving are his three sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, Paul and Pamela (Alexander) Jakabcsin of Ann Arbor, MI; Mark and Ingrid (Schawaller) Jakabcsin of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and John and Deirdre (Berry) Jakabcsin of West Chicago, IL; and five grandchildren, Haley Jakabcsin, Nicole Jakabcsin, Eric Jakabcsin, Benjamin Jakabcsin, and Bridget Jakabcsin. George's mother and father preceded him in death. George was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School in 1956 and Duquesne University in 1960 with a degree in accounting. Following his college graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy, served on the USS Earle B. Hall during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and later served on the USS Kirwin. After military service, he began his professional career working as an executive in accounting and finance. He worked in retailing for years, including at Gimbels in Pittsburgh and at May Co. stores in Youngstown, Ohio and Pittsburgh. George had also been the CFO of Pittsburgh Brewing, Busy Beaver, and Giant Eagle. Later he started his own accounting and consulting firm. While maintaining his professional career, George also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. George's life centered on two key passions family and fishing. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow and develop into intelligent, caring individuals. He also loved to fish. Any time that he could sneak away to make a few casts into the water was a wonderful time. That was increased when he could have family alongside him at the water's edge. George was a devout Catholic and an active member of his parish, St. Sebastian in the North Hills. He and his wife attended services regularly, and there is no question that God and Jesus Christ were his guide and his light. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenys. There is no visitation scheduled at this time, but a memorial for George will be held after the Covid-19 threat has ended. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sebastian Parish. RICHARD SCOTT KIRSCHLER, JR. "SCOTT" On Friday, October 9, 2020, Richard Scott Kirschler, Jr., ("Scott") passed away suddenly. He was 54 years old. Scott was born on June 21, 1966, in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Westminster University and received a Bachelor's in Business. Upon graduating, he started working in the steel industry starting his career in inside sales and working his way into management. He spent most of his career working for Samuel Specialty Metals in Hertimage, PA. Beginning in high school, Scott found his passion in the game of golf. He was on the golf team at Westminister and enjoyed caddying. His position as a salesman allowed him to golf at many courses and allowed him to have the opportunity to be a member at Firestone Country Club in Ohio. The loves of his life were his three children, Abby, Jack and Chris. Throughout the years, he was involved in coaching their sports teams and was their biggest cheerleader in life. He would always tell them that they could be anything and do anything that they set their mind on. He would say You are a Kirschler and you are 10 feet tall and bullet proof In addition to his children, Scott is survived by his father, R. Scott Kirschler, Sr.; as well as his brother, John Andrew Kirschler. He was predeceased by his mother, Susan Price Kirschler. He is also survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews. RONALD JOHN KRESS Age 74, of Easton, MD, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late John and Pearl Kress (Beck). Devoted husband of 39 years to Jean A. Kress (Rosensteel). Loving father of Carrie Giles, Sarah (David) Snyder, Diane (Christopher) Adelsberger, and the late Ronald T. Kress. Proud Pappy to nine cherished grandchildren. Brother of Darlene (Edward) Gielarowski and Jack Kress. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
