RICHARD SCOTT KIRSCHLER, JR. "SCOTT" On Friday, October 9, 2020, Richard Scott Kirschler, Jr., ("Scott") passed away suddenly. He was 54 years old. Scott was born on June 21, 1966, in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Westminster University and received a Bachelor's in Business. Upon graduating, he started working in the steel industry starting his career in inside sales and working his way into management. He spent most of his career working for Samuel Specialty Metals in Hertimage, PA. Beginning in high school, Scott found his passion in the game of golf. He was on the golf team at Westminister and enjoyed caddying. His position as a salesman allowed him to golf at many courses and allowed him to have the opportunity to be a member at Firestone Country Club in Ohio. The loves of his life were his three children, Abby, Jack and Chris. Throughout the years, he was involved in coaching their sports teams and was their biggest cheerleader in life. He would always tell them that they could be anything and do anything that they set their mind on. He would say “You are a Kirschler and you are 10 feet tall and bullet proof” In addition to his children, Scott is survived by his father, R. Scott Kirschler, Sr.as well as his brother, John Andrew Kirschler. He was predeceased by his mother, Susan Price Kirschler. He is also survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews. Beloved wife of the late David Thon; beloved mother of David (Susan) Thon and Nancy Jane Martini; sister of Ross (Rosemarie) Vizzini and the late Thomas and Rosemary Vizzini; grandmother of Susan Thon, David (Christy) Thon, Erica Thon, Donald (Rachel) Martini, Julie Ann (Chad) Anderson, Anthony "Tony" V. Martini; great-grandmother of Dominick, Vincent, Paris, Hunter, Chatuax Rose, Christian, Sophia Elizabeth, Anthony and Amora Grace. Sara was a self-employed beautician for many years. A longtime member of St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, participating with the choir and served as president of its Christian Mothers. JEAN P. WEIMER After 94 years of a joy-filled life, Jean P. Weimer passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 7, 2020 in Hilton Head, SC. Born August 17, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Ralph and Eva Patton, Jean graduated from South Hills High School. Jean spent most of her life in West Mifflin, PA. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and enjoyed the symphony and any live musical performance. Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge and golfing with her friends. Jean was a lifelong member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, where she was active in the Christian Servitors. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Weimer; sister, Edith Dale; son-in-law, David Crunkleton; and grandson, Brad Steele. Jean is survived by her three daughters, Dawn Crunkleton of Hilton Head, Linda Shilatz (Nick) of McMurray, PA, and Martha Steele (Bob) of Hilton Head; nephew, Lee Dale (Donna) of Carbondale, CO; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. May her memory be a blessing and a constant reminder to live life to the fullest. An outdoor Memorial Service is planned for Jean in late October at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, PA. THOMAS C. ROWADER Of Valencia, formerly of Cranberry Township and Whitehall, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020. Beloved husband of 64 years to Diane L. (Pierre) Rowader. Loving father of Laura R. Camp (Robert), Susan R. Mutschler (Lawrence), Mary D. Vaughan (the late Butch), Thomas C. Rowader, Jr. (Valerie), Christine R. Stevens (Herb) and Kathleen E. Tallo (Christopher); brother of Eileen Hampson and the late James Rowader and Marian Stockhoff; loving grandfather of 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was known for his giving spirit, bright mind, and even brighter smile. He loved golf, Star Trek, reading nonfiction, and watching Pittsburgh sports. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. A man of faith, he led his family every Thanksgiving in a beautiful prayer and thankful song. He taught his children and grandchildren how to play cribbage and swing a golf club, how to carve the perfect turkey and serve in ping-pong, how to work hard and appreciate what you have, and how to be respectful and kind. His greatest lesson was how to love. He was the consummate example of patience, strength, and generosity for everyone around him. He is loved and will be greatly missed. She was born October 30, 1937, in Falerna, Italy, daughter of the late Rosario and Caterina Chieffe. She was a career U.S. Army Reservist and an Education Specialist for the Army. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karissa Kunco. LAWRENCE M. CEBULSKI Lawrence M. Cebulski, 67, of Edinboro, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Saturday, October 10, 2020. Born in Pittsburgh on February 6, 1953, son of the late Ted and Josephine Cebulski. Larry graduated Central Catholic HS in 1971. He worked at Carnegie Mellon in maintenance and then many years as a cook at St. Francis Hospital. He also worked security at the Salvation Army on the north side. He was a Pittsburgh sports fanatic. Survivors include his sister, Janice Heasley; and a niece, Jennifer (Sean Williams) Heasley, both of Edinboro, and many cousins in Pittsburgh. Friends and family will be welcomed at the WALTER J. GEORGE JOHN JAKABCSIN George John Jakabcsin, 81, of Ross Township, joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was being cared for at UPMC Passavant Hospital in the North Hills, and he passed with his loving wife by his side. He was born November 8, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, to George and Anna Jakabcsin. In 1965, he married his beautiful bride, Mary. She is still with us and continues to be the matriarch of his wonderful and warmhearted family. Also, surviving are his three sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, Paul and Pamela (Alexander) Jakabcsin of Ann Arbor, MI; Mark and Ingrid (Schawaller) Jakabcsin of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and John and Deirdre (Berry) Jakabcsin of West Chicago, IL; and five grandchildren, Haley Jakabcsin, Nicole Jakabcsin, Eric Jakabcsin, Benjamin Jakabcsin, and Bridget Jakabcsin. George's mother and father preceded him in death. George was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School in 1956 and Duquesne University in 1960 with a degree in accounting. Following his college graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy, served on the USS Earle B. Hall during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and later served on the USS Kirwin. After military service, he began his professional career working as an executive in accounting and finance. He worked in retailing for years, including at Gimbels in Pittsburgh and at May Co. stores in Youngstown, Ohio and Pittsburgh. George had also been the CFO of Pittsburgh Brewing, Busy Beaver, and Giant Eagle. Later he started his own accounting and consulting firm. While maintaining his professional career, George also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. George's life centered on two key passions – family and fishing. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow and develop into intelligent, caring individuals. He also loved to fish. Any time that he could sneak away to make a few casts into the water was a wonderful time. That was increased when he could have family alongside him at the water's edge. George was a devout Catholic and an active member of his parish, St. Sebastian in the North Hills. He and his wife attended services regularly, and there is no question that God and Jesus Christ were his guide and his light. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenys. There is no visitation scheduled at this time, but a memorial for George will be held after the Covid-19 threat has ended. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sebastian Parish. LENA LAPKO (D'IGNAZIO) Mama Lena, of Munhall, wanted you to know her work here is done. She entered Eternal Life after 95 years on October 11, 2020. She enjoyed her life as the proud owner of Lapko's Bar and Grill for 45 years. She will be joined by the love of her life, her husband Edward, where they will be laughing and dancing just like old times. Her oldest son Edward, Jr. (Marlene survives) will meet her at the Pearly Gates when she arrives. Her four surviving children, Ronald Lapko, Linda (Bruce) Barr, Michael (Stacey) Lapko, Betty Ann (Gary) Ogg knew the great unconditional love she had for them. They blessed her with (13) beautiful Grandchildren and they gave her another (13) great-grandchildren. They all loved and adored her and will miss the way she always kept them laughing. She was the daughter of Italian immigrant parents the late Matteo and Concetta “Montrasti” D'Ignazio and sister of John (the late Jean) D'Ignazio, the late Edith (the late Norman) Reis, the late Anthony (the late Shirley) D'Ignazio, her ever devoted sister, Rose (the late Bud) Leroch, late Maria and late Mary D'Ignazio. She was a member of the AARP Assn., St. Michaels Parish and many other charities. Mama Lena was a loving, generous woman and will be greatly missed by her family and friends and all that knew her. Funeral Service Friday, 10 AM, St. John the Baptist Cathedral Munhall. Interment following at St. Nicholas Cemetery, North Versailles. Michael served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Two Rivers Amateur Radio Club (NK3C), the Breezshooters Amateur Radio Club, the American Legion Post 380 in Dravosburg, and a 500 hour volunteer at Jefferson Hospital. Michael also volunteered at the Monroeville Mall Ministry, the Salvation Army, the Liberty Boro VFD and was a member of Holy Name Society. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be left to Mt. St. Macrina, Uniontown, Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, Ohio or the Byzantine Seminary, Pittsburgh. RICHARD SCOTT KIRSCHLER, JR. "SCOTT" On Friday, October 9, 2020, Richard Scott Kirschler, Jr., ("Scott") passed away suddenly. He was 54 years old. Scott was born on June 21, 1966, in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Westminster University and received a Bachelor's in Business. Upon graduating, he started working in the steel industry starting his career in inside sales and working his way into management. He spent most of his career working for Samuel Specialty Metals in Hertimage, PA. Beginning in high school, Scott found his passion in the game of golf. He was on the golf team at Westminister and enjoyed caddying. His position as a salesman allowed him to golf at many courses and allowed him to have the opportunity to be a member at Firestone Country Club in Ohio. The loves of his life were his three children, Abby, Jack and Chris. Throughout the years, he was involved in coaching their sports teams and was their biggest cheerleader in life. He would always tell them that they could be anything and do anything that they set their mind on. He would say “You are a Kirschler and you are 10 feet tall and bullet proof” In addition to his children, Scott is survived by his father, R. Scott Kirschler, Sr.; as well as his brother, John Andrew Kirschler. He was predeceased by his mother, Susan Price Kirschler. He is also survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews. Devoted husband of 39 years to Jean A. Kress (Rosensteel). Loving father of Carrie Giles, Sarah (David) Snyder, Diane (Christopher) Adelsberger, and the late Ronald T. Kress.
