SANDRA MONTJAR Sandra Montjar, 76, of Ligonier, Westmoreland County, died Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at her home. Sandra was born in Pittsburgh on June 9, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Gibson Stemp. Sandi was a 1962 graduate of Baldwin High School. She enjoyed cooking, birdwatching, tending to her beautiful gardens, walking on trails, and most especially the company of her dogs. Sandi was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers fan. Later in life, she decided to pursue a career in nursing and earned a BSN from St. Francis School of Nursing and had been employed at various hospitals and homecare agencies. Sandi is survived by three children, Tammy Frech Arnold and her husband, Christopher, of Karns City, Jim Carradine and his wife, Kim, and Scott Carradine, all of West Mifflin; five grandchildren, Kevin Frech of Philadelphia, Alex Carradine of Colorado, Marissa, Jacob, and Louis Carradine, all of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Richard Stemp and his wife, Geri, of Macungie and Gary Stemp and his wife, Terry, of Germantown, OH; three nephews and a number of cousins. RITA LUCCHINO Rita Lucchino, who lived to count 91 years, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2020. The daughter of Frank and Margaret Chianese. She graduated from Elizabeth Seton High School in 1947. She married the late John Robert Lucchino on September 1, 1951. Rita volunteered with the Greater Pittsburgh Guild for the Blind for 10 years. In her leisure, she enjoyed music, playing in card clubs, and travel. Some of her favorite locations included the South West, Alaska, and Europe. Rita was a longtime member of the Woman's Club of Upper St. Clair. She was exceptionally chic; her hair, nails, and wardrobe always impeccable. She loved fiercely, which she demonstrated through the care she gave to her daughters and grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, Frank Chianese (Carol); her sister, Barbara Devaney (Paul); her four daughters, Keek Lucchino, Lynne Lucchino, Gale Bretti (John), and Bobbi Lucchino; her five grandchildren, Becca Woodworth, Carter Bova, Gabriel Bretti, Zade Benelalija, and Bacilio Benelalija; and her three great-grandchildren. ALLOUISE F. COFFY Age 88, of Shippenville, passed away at her home Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Born June 5, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Allouise was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Nehus Siebauer. Allouise graduated from Mt. Alvernia High School, received her bachelor's degree in education from Duquesne University and her master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh. Allouise was an avid reader. She loved living on the farm she bought with her husband in 1989. They had cows and cats, which she named each one. She was a kind hearted person who loved her neighbors and loved when her grandchildren came to visit the farm. After her husband passed away Allouise's neighbors were very helpful and she deeply appreciated everything everyone did for her. Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Phillips and her husband, Kevin, of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael Coffy and his wife, Jeanne, of Orlando, FL, Anthony Coffy and his wife, Sue, of Mims, FL, and Martin Coffy and his wife, Rose, of Mims, FL; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. BARBARA H. KINDLER April 16, 1933 - September 22, 2020 Barbara Hosack Kindler, age 87, died peacefully at the Gordon House in Gordonsville, Virginia on September 22, 2020. She was from Pittsburgh, PA, where she led an active life as a mother, wife and artist. She was predeceased in death by her husband, David Kindler and son, Richard Kindler. She was the beloved mother to Cheri, Mark (Ashby), Richard and Daniel Kindler. She has three grandchildren, Brooke (Marcello), Becka and Snowden. Barbara went back to school late in life at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, receiving a BA in Art Education. She was a gifted sculptor and taught classes in her studio as well as the Shadyside Center for the Arts in Pittsburgh, where she had several showings of her work reflecting her fondness of animals and Greek mythology. Early in her marriage, Barbara also worked as a teacher's assistant and nurse's aide, with high regards from co-workers, students and patients. She was energetic and had an infectious laugh and sense of humor. She loved to go shopping and decorate her home. Barbara was always supportive and available while her children went through the trials and tribulations of college, finding jobs and moving numerous times. Her acceptance of stray animals found on those journeys always made sure there were plenty of animals to love at her home. Her move and adjustment to assisted living was difficult, but was made tolerable by one of her pets, a domesticated feral cat (named Cat) with her. Barbara will be missed by all who knew this woman of many talents, who had a gift of connecting on many levels to live a meaningful existence. RUTH ROWBOTHAM LINDQUIST Ruth Rowbotham Lindquist (Robbie) died peacefully on October 18, 2020, after a full and happy life. She is survived by her son, John A. Lindquist, III (Chip) and his wife, Tamara Lindquist (Tammy); daughter, Melinda Lindquist and her husband, Parkman Howe; and five grandchildren, Emily (Howe) Larnard, Caroline Howe, Anna Lindquist, Jack Lindquist and Lily Lindquist. Robbie will be greatly missed by family and friends for her spirit, energy, great stories and effervescent smile. Born October 30, 1924, in Boston, Massachusetts to Volney Rowbotham and Edith Margeson Rowbotham, Robbie grew up in Canton, Massachusetts and was a graduate of Wellesley College. Growing up she loved horseback riding in the fields and hills near home, learned to fly, and worked as a travel agent and with Pan American prior to meeting and marrying John Lindquist, Jr. in 1955. She and John raised their family in Michigan, Connecticut, Switzerland and England before settling in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, where they resided for 40 years. Robbie loved tennis and paddle. She was an active member and multi-term President of the Sewickley Garden Club, as well as an expert gardener and flower arranger. She was also immersed in community and family life, and in the lives of her many friends. An online celebration of Robbie's life is being planned via zoom in the next few weeks. Later, he was a manager for the multi-located Carl's Taverns and also was employed at Rebecca Residence in Wilkinsburg. Tucker was a staunch fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. JOSEPH W. MARKUS Age 80, of Bronson, Florida, formerly of the Polish Hill Area of Pittsburgh. Joseph W. Markus died on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at his home after enduring years of pain and suffering. Joe was surrounded by his family when he died. Joe is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Renee (Chris) Holmes; and sister, Barbara (Ed) Wierzbowski; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe attended a Christian Polish Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA, where he took Latin as a language for four years. Joe went on to the seminary for four years, where he furthered his knowledge in Latin and took French, in addition to the Polish language he knew well. Joe then received a call to join the Airforce. Joe served four years. During this time he was sent to Vietnam, learned some of their language, obtained training in explosives, rockets, missiles, and small arms. Joe also obtained top-secret security clearance, in which he used while defending America, the country he truly loved. Joe received certificates of appreciation and Vietnam achievement pins for his efforts. After returning home from the Vietnam War, Joe continued receiving treatment for injuries he sustained. Joe then married the love of his life, Susan, and remained happily married for over forty years. Joe and Susan adopted their daughter, Renee, and welcomed her into their lives. Joe was blessed by God who gave him a talent to paint art. Joe not only accepted this gift but mastered it as well. Joe lived a full life, all along living the will of God. God rewarded Joe always and now Joe is rewarded in the best way possible. All the pain and suffering are over, Joe is now at peace and forever with Jesus in heaven for eternity.
