MITRUSKI ANNA (HOMA) On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, our family lost one of the world's kindest souls. Anna Mitruski died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Cherished mother of Janet (Frank) Carroll and John "Hoppy" (Teri) Mitruski; beloved grandmother of Michael Mitruski and Megan (Jon) Reynolds; great- grandmother of Colt Reynolds; sister of Pauline (Colonel Hergenroeder) and the late Mary Homa, Margaret Smarsh, Helen Pakutinskas; and her brother, George; second mother to Micki (John) Cunningham. She will be remembered for her laughter, positive outlook, and her deep faith. Anna is best described as caring, gentle, artistic, and beautiful (inside and out). She always found the goodness in people and in life even in difficult times. She loved gardening, drawing, books, and magazines. BARZD PAUL J., Jr. Age 78, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, formerly of North Strabane, entered the doorway of Heaven on Friday, August 29, 2014. Born in Pittsburgh on March 4, 1936, he was the son of the late Mary and Paul J. Barzd, Sr. He was the husband to Mary Kay Barzd for 53 years; father of Lisa (Shawn) Paciorek of North Strabane, Paul J. III (Stephanie) Barzd of Cecil, Thomas (Dawn) Barzd of Reading, PA, Melissa (Kenn) Gluckman of Maitland, FL, and Jonelle (Jim) Cote of Venetia, PA; grandfather of Ashley, Paul John IV, and Zachary Barzd, Connor, Ryan, and Abby Barzd, Taylor, Mia, and Chloe Gluckman, and Colin, Gavin, and Ayden Cote; brother of Greta Weber and Mary Kathryn Colvin; also blessed with many nieces and nephews. Paul graduated from Central Catholic and went to the University of Pittsburgh. He was the founder of B & W Insurance Agency in Washington, PA. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. JONES SHIRLEY N. Age 85, died on August 29, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 25, 1928. She graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and was married to Wilbur “Bill” Jones for 50 years. They relocated to Hendersonville, NC in 1977, where they owned and developed Willow Creek Farms and the Landmark Apartments, and owned Brass Etc. Shirley was predeceased by her husband; her parents, Chester and Diana Morgan; and her brother, James Morgan. She is survived by her four children, Steven Jones (Amy) of Atlanta, GA, Diana “Dee” Jones Adams (Pete) of Baton Rouge, LA, Wilbur “Bill” Jones (Marie) of Herndon, VA, and Gary Jones (Mary) of Winston-Salem, NC; and her nine grandchildren, Chad, Jeromy, and Jennifer, Ashley, Daniel, and Emily, Brian (Jessica), Gregory, and Katelyn; and great-granddaughter, Ella; she is also survived by her niece, Carol Pierce; her nephew, Rusty Morgan; and her cousin, Florence Gillespie. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church at 1245 6th Ave. W., Hendersonville, NC 28791. He is survived by a son-in-law, Richard Mitesser; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Geis (Frank); and two great-grandsons, Cameron and Kolby Yourison. Fred was a proud veteran of the United States Merchant Marines, having served in WWII. He was a retiree of the Chamber of Commerce and was a lifetime member of the BPOE Elks lodge #2249 of Cranberry Twp. In his free time, Fred enjoyed spending time with friends, golfing, playing bingo, and watching the Pirates, Steelers and the Price is Right on television.
