Born in Erie, PA Brother Felix was a member of the Franciscan Providence of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Brother Felix celebrated his 50th jubilee of vows on August 15, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanislaus and Jean (Krajczynski) Nowakowski; he is survived by his sisters, Mercedes and Marie Nowakowski and Lucy Wagner, all of Erie, PA; and nieces and nephews. Brother Felix worked for many years as the head of maintenance for Arch Bishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, PA and most recently at the Byzantine Eparchy of Pittsburgh. EVANS JEAN ANN (MARX) On the morning of December 6, 2015, at age 75, Jean Ann Evans, known as Bunny, peacefully passed away at her home of 50 years, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Douglas Evans; mother of David Marx (Barbara), Christine Laffey (Ronnie), John Evans (Tammy), Michele Evans (Tony) and Mark Evans (Kelly); grandmother to David, Daniel, Mackenzie, Rachel, Alexandra, Christian, Ashley, Anthony, Collin, Makayla, Parker, Katie and Kyle; also six great- grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late John and Regina Marx. Jean was a 29 year employee of PNC Bank and rose to the level of Vice President. She enjoyed life to its fullest, spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and her home in Emsworth and her beloved dog, Gabby. Bunny was born in Brighton Heights and graduated from Oliver High School with honors. Sis was born on July 22, 1919, to Joseph and Isabell (Henle) Leuch in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was Catholic by faith, an expert at card games and bingo and loved to travel, but was best known for her ravioli. In addition to her parents, Sis was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred "Cook" Ratti; daughter, Joy (Tom) Bauer; brothers, Bud (Darlene) Leuch and Earl Leuch; sister, Rita (William) Rodgers; and daughter-in-law, Carol H. Ratti. She is survived by sons, Mark (Rita) Ratti, John (Donna) Ratti, and Gregory (Jane) Ratti; brothers, Roy (Betty) Leuch and Norman (Joanne) Leuch; sister-in-law, Liz (Earl) Leuch; grandchildren, Michelle (Rich) Libicer, Jacqueline (Al) Paton, Mark (Christina) Ratti, Diana (Derek) Paton, Jason Ratti, John (Melissa) Bauer and Drew (Shannon) Ratti; and 14 great-grandchildren. GILMAN MARILYN On December 10, 2015, Marilyn Gilman passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in her home in Upper St. Clair. She was born on April 8, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Beatrice and Leo Singer. Marilyn graduated from James Madison High School in 1957. On September 21, 1958, she married Edward Gilman. Marilyn graduated from Brooklyn College in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and began working as a social worker for New York City. In 1966, she and her family moved to Ghent, Belgium for five years, where her husband attended medical school. Marilyn taught English, music, and art for the NATO and SHAPE schools in Belgium to support her family. Upon returning to the United States in 1971, she rekindled her passion for oil painting and writing. In the 1980s, three of her novels were published by Zebra Books. In 1988, at the age of 48, Marilyn continued her education by attending Duquesne Law School and earned her Juris Doctorate. Her legal career, which focused on family law, lasted for 24 years until the summer of 2015, when ill health mandated her retirement. Marilyn was a champion of those who were less fortunate or privileged. In 2015, she received the Washington County Bar Association Pro Bono award for legal services donated to clients who would otherwise be unable to afford legal counsel. Marilyn was a member of the inaugural class of the Washington County C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocate) chapter, volunteering to be a voice for neglected and abused children in Juvenile Court. Marilyn's other passions included reading, gardening, and antiquing, for which she canvassed the countryside and estate sales looking for bargains with her buddy, Daneen Calhoun. She also cared deeply for her synagogue, Beth Israel, where she was on the Board of Directors for many years. Marilyn had three children, Gary (Kathy Emery) Gilman of Canonsburg, Steven (Julia) Gilman of Erie, and Neil (Sherraine) Gilman of Converse, Texas, who passed away on January 15, 2015. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ian, Hannah, George, Abby, Sam, Caitlin, and Leila; several nieces and nephews; and her dearest friend of 70 years, "Aunt" Carol Krieger. In addition to her son and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Susan Covey. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2015, in Beth Israel Synagogue, 265 North Avenue, Washington where a catered reception will follow. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Jeffery Dean Lewis and mother of two children, Courtney Sloan and Brendan Dean, the joys of her life. Very loving daughter of Mary Sally McKernan (Coleman Conley), and the late Robert Raymond Sommer, Sr. Greatly admired by her three brothers, Robert Raymond Sommer, Jr. (Laura), Bernard Brian (Kristine) Sommer, and Daniel Douglas (Rebecca) Sommer. Treasured daughter-in-law of Marion Rose and Dean Clifton Lewis; and sister-in-law of Rachel Diane Ragula. Aunt Sharon was adored by her nieces and nephews, James, Ryan, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Allison, Brigid and Ciera. Sharon will be missed by her many aunts, uncles and numerous cousins who loved her dearly. She was blessed with friends who were strong pillars of support and enjoyed the laughter and positivity she brought into their lives. Sharon received her B.S. from Seton Hill University and her M.B.A. from Chatham University, where she was the Director of Student Accounts for seven years and an adjunct faculty member. She found true happiness and great joy in her recent position serving as the Director of Social and Pastoral Outreach at Saint Paul's Cathedral in Oakland. The people she served through the Food Pantry at St. Paul's felt her love, and they brightened her life each day. For the last several years, Sharon and Jeff loved to travel and spent many hours hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, and enjoying the outdoors with Sharon's yorkie, Daisy. Everyone she knew witnessed her strong faith in God and the Blessed Mother, which guided her throughout her lifetime.
