VITANZA KATHRYN J. “KATHY” Peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017, age 74, passed away at her home in Allison Park, PA, where she resided since 1979. She was surrounded by loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Fred Vitanza. She leaves behind three children, Timothy (Heather Ann) Vitanza of Rockwall, Texas, Michael (Heather Lynn) Vitanza of McCandless, PA, and Maureen (John) Lemmon of Franklin Park, PA. Also seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Ethan and Paige Vitanza (of Michael and Heather Lynn), Timothy (TJ) and Lauryn Vitanza (of Timothy and Heather Ann), and Noah and Madelyn Lemmon (of Maureen and John). Also numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends. Born November 8, 1942, Kathy was the daughter of the late Raymond Powell and Marie “Betty” O'Donnell Powell. She grew up in the Oakland community of Pittsburgh as the third of eight children. Raymond (Marilyn, dcsd.; Katie Kapres, S.O.) Powell, Jr. preceded her in death. She is survived by Marie Horvath, Dan (Pat) Powell, Liz Powell, Jack (Sheri) Powell, Mike (Gina) Powell, all of the Pittsburgh area, and Jimmy (Susie, dcsd.; Sandra Lee) Powell of Kingman, Arizona. She retired in 2008 as Director of Human Resources at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, where her career spanned more than 40 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put others first. She will be sorely missed. Friends will be received on Thursday from 12-2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. at BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 2554 Wildwood Rd., Allison Park, PA, on Friday at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery of St. Mary's, Glenshaw. ROSSO REV. NORBERT, C.S.Sp. of Bethel Park, a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, died peacefully February 9, 2017 at Marion Manor, Greentree, PA. He was 89 years old. Father Rosso was born October 27, 1927 in Lambertville, NJ. He professed his vows as a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit on August 22, 1949 at Holy Ghost Novitiate in Ridgefield, CT and was ordained to the Priesthood June 3, 1954 at St. Mary's Seminary, Ferndale in Norwalk, CT. Fr. Rosso was first appointed to St. Benedict the Moor Parish, Detroit MI from 1955-1958 and then Sacred Heart Parish, Detroit until 1961. In succeeding years he ministered at St. Edward, New Iberia, LA and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Bakersfield, CA. He was Administrator of St. Augustine, Isle Breville, LA from 1969-1970. From 1971-1991 he was pastor of Holy Ghost Parishes in Marksville, Opelousas, and New Orleans, LA. From August 1991-1997 he was Pastor at Holy Redeemer in San Antonio, TX. He was then named Pastor of St. Anthony, Natchitoches, LA. He obtained retirement status in 2001 and was in residence at Spiritan Retirement Homes in Hemet, CA and in Bethel Park, PA since 2009. Fr. Rosso was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert T. and Reba Oblinger Rosso; and his brother James. He is survived by eight nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial Mass in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel at the Spiritan Center, 6230 Brush Run Road, Bethel Park on Wednesday February 15, 2017 at 9:00 am. Burial will take place at the Spiritan Cemetery, Bensalem PA on February 25, 2017. In memory of Fr. MINEO ROBERT R. Age 74 of Plum, peacefully, on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Born August 12, 1942 in Sicily, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carmella (Cavoli) Mineo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret Mary (Masterson) Mineo; loving father of Kathleen Marie (John) Larko, Robert Joseph Mineo and Anthony James (Ronna) Mineo; proud grandfather of John Paul, Grace Catherine, Luke Robert, Cassidy Nicole and the late Joseph Stewart; also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Bob was employed for 33 years as a distribution manager at TRW Incorporated and for more than 20 years by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, including 15 years with the former St. Martin DePorres Parish in McKeesport and 4 years with St. John the Baptist Parish in Plum. He was a man of faith and subtly tried to instill those values in those he loved. If we could all be as good of a father and husband as he was, we would all be better people. TAYLOR EDGAR RIVES, Jr. A resident of Blackridge in Wilkinsburg for over 50 years, passed on January 31, 2017, in Houston, Texas, after a brief illness. An avid amateur genealogist and historian,  Mr. Taylor was a charter member of the Western Pennsylvania Genealogy Society, and a member of the National Society of Genealogists for over 25 years. He was the author of several family histories including "The Dewees Family of Florida," widely copied by other family genealogists, and "Relatives of Cornelius Taylor," his ancestor.  He was a past president of the Wilkinsburg Historical Society and had also been the Archivist and Historian of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wilkinsburg for many years. Edgar graduated from Cornell University in 1952 with the 5-year degrees of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Master of Engineering. A member of the ROTC at Cornell, he served in Korea in the Corps of Engineers.  For meritorious service there he was awarded the Bronze Star. Following his service, he left the US Army with the rank of Captain. Ed was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation for nearly 30 years in Pittsburgh, first as Sponsor Engineer for the southern electric utilities, then Manager, and finally Consulting Engineer, the highest engineering position in Westinghouse. Following his retirement, Mr. Taylor taught advanced electrical engineering courses for Westinghouse, Carnegie Mellon, and ASEA Brown Boveri for whom he had briefly worked toward the end of his career.   Mr. Taylor was a 50-year life member of the Masons, and became a Mason in the Orient Masonic Lodge, No. 590, then in Wilkinsburg, a member of the Scottish Rite, and of the Syria Shrine.  He was 32nd degree Mason.  He was the son of the late Edgar Rives and Eleanor Louise Taylor, formerly of Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Taylor was predeceased last October by his wife of 64 years, Guion Trau Taylor.  He is survived by two sons: Rives Trau Taylor (Loretta Coonan) of Houston, Texas, and the Rev. Edgar Garland ("Gary") Taylor (Karen Shipley) of New Orleans, LA; as well as three grandchildren, Charles Shipley Taylor, Gwendolyn Guion Taylor, and Theodore Jenot Taylor; in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews.  More about Edgar's life, with pictures and a place to send a note to family, can be found at https://tinyurl.com/edtaylor. A funeral service for Ed and Guion will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans, LA, on Saturday, March 18, 2017.  Edgar will be buried with his wife in the Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas. PRASKOVICH EDWARD L. Of Sandy Lake, PA, Pittsburgh died February 11, 2017. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of late Frank and Margaret Stiploshek Praskovich. United States Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran involved in eighteen combat missions. Recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation discharged as a Sergeant in 1969. Was a homebuilder and in 2008 retired from Federal Government General Services Administration after 21 years. Past Commander of the Westview VFW Post #2754, a member of Laurel Gardens American Legion Post #80. His wife, the former Susan L. Frueh, preceded him in death in 2010; and a son, Edward L. WILLIAMS SARAH (FITZGERALD) Age 89, of Upper St. Clair, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Loving mother of Diane Burns, Larry (Jeanne) Williams, Cindy (Mark) Zemanski, Dougg (Robin) Williams, Richard (Natasha) Williams, Connie (David) Murphy, and David (Elizabeth) Williams; proud Nana of Courtney, Julia, and Zack (Samantha) Burns, Lauren (Chuck) Fortuna, Jenny and Drew Williams, Michael (Lindsay), Patrick, Kelsy, Kevin, and Jack Zemanski, Marina and JayT Williams, Clare, Sophie, and Anneliese Williams, Carson (Patrick) Carnahan, Bridget and Jimmy Murphy, Bradley, Matthew, and Emily Williams; caring great-grandmother of Ella, Dylan, and Bo. Sarah was predeceased by five siblings; and her parents, James and Mabel Fitzgerald. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Full of grace and kindness, Sarah devoted her life to caring for her seven children she had with her husband, Larry, and her 22 grandchildren. She was never too busy to give her undivided attention, and was so positive and giving to all that each of her children and grandchildren were convinced that they must be her favorite. She had a smile and words of encouragement for everyone she met. Moving to Pittsburgh in 1937, she always considered herself “just a country girl” from West Virginia. She put her skills for caring for others to use early working with disabled children at the Children's Home before starting her own family. Beyond family and friends, everyone knew how much she loved watching golf for the human stories, the drama, and the game. Even at the end, she continued to give us advice saying to remember that life is about the people you love not about money or things. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. CIRINCIONE MARK Peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017, age 62, of the Friendship area of Pittsburgh. Dear brother of Joseph (Susan) and Patrick (Susan) Cirincione; preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Martha Cirincione. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Mark loved people music, dancing and wrestling. The family much appreciates the compassion and care given to Mark from Bethany Hospice and Golden Living Center.
