WEITZEL GERTRUDE L. "TRUDY" (THOMPSON) Age 94, of Greensburg, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Friday, June 1, 2018, in the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. She was born November 17, 1923, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Arthur Carl and Margaret (Weir) Thompson. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity. She was a member of the Women's Circle of the Church and a member of the Eastern Star and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Trudy graduated Valedictorian from Baldwin High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Weitzel and her stepmother, Flora Thompson. Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey L. Weitzel and his fiancée, Linda Polesky, of Greensburg and Jerald Lloyd Weitzel and his wife, Jennifer Ann, of Matthews, NC; six grandchildren, Jeffrey B. Weitzel and wife, Susan (Wiegand), of St. Louis, MO, Beth Moyer and husband, Andrew, of North Huntingdon, Stacey Laratonda and husband, Vince, of North Irwin, Blake Allan Weitzel and wife, Megan Frances, of Southern Pines, NC, Cassandra Marie Hildreth and husband, Walter Raymond, of Orlando, FL and Autumn Grace Weitzel, of Matthews, NC; five great- grandchildren, Dylan Moyer and Angelina Moyer, all of North Huntingdon, Cameron Laratonda, of North Irwin, Jackson Woodrow Weitzel, Scarlett Anne Weitzel, both of Southern Pines, NC; a brother, Walter Buddy Thompson and his wife, Dolores; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. To honor Gertrude's wishes, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will held Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity.
