MANZINI DONALD “MUNZO” Age 91, of Bridgeville, on January 24, 2018. He was born March 18, 1926, to the late Felix and Louisa (Castelli) Manzini of Sygan, PA. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Molly (Marusic) Manzini. He is survived by his son, Ronald, and his wife, Dorene Manzini; grandchildren, Donna (Tony) Marcano, Ronald Manzini Jr., and David Manzini; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Elyse, and Lauren Marcano. SIKSA ROBERT A. “BOB” Of Murrysville, age 72, died on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Beloved husband of Mary Lou (Wentz) Siksa for 46 years; devoted and loving father of Michelle Siksa of Murrysville; brother of Joanne (late Dominic) Gizzi of VA, Mary Ellen Siksa of VA, Christine Siksa of VA, and Catherine (Rick) Milanak of Lancaster. Also survived by many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews, also his beloved kitty, Roxy. Bob was a Vietnam War era Army veteran and a retired employee of Bechtel. During his career, which began with Westinghouse and later became Bechtel, he invented equipment that is used in the U.S. Navy nuclear programs for aircraft carriers and submarines. Bob was multi-talented as he was a surveyor, master wood worker and a HAM Radio operator with the call signal of K30FX. STRASBAUGH GEORGE BERNARD, SR. February 9, 1938 - January 26, 2018. George Bernard Strasbaugh, Sr., of Baldwin, was called home by the Lord after a long illness. Son of Bernard J. and Giovanna A. (Condoleo); beloved husband of 60 years to Joan Teresa (Wivell); devoted father to George B., Jr. (Gina), Thomas R. (Betsy), and Daniel J. (Sandy); loving grandfather of George III (Casey), Ann (Zachary) Sisko, John, Elizabeth (Daniel) Kihn, Thomas, Michael, Jessica, and Keith;adoring great-grandfather to Alexandra, Kiersten, Maxwell, and Eleanor. George was a graduate of Perry High School, Robert Morris College and LaSalle University. He went on to obtain his certified public accountant licensure and worked as Director of Contracts for the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory with the Department of Energy for 31 years. George loved his Italian heritage and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Most of all, he loved his family. He will be sorely missed. STEIMER MERL E. Age 67, of West Mifflin, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home. The son of the late Glenn E. and Reath C. Steimer, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas P. Steimer, and is survived by his siblings, Reath (Steimer) Risaliti, Glenn (Michele) Steimer, Lee (Charlotte) Steimer, Lise (Steimer) and Richard Conte, and Susan (Steimer) and Robert Barbee; sister-in-law, Colleen Steimer; as well as several aunts and uncles, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Merl was multi-talented, with degrees in mathematics, computer science, and civil engineering. Having earned his Professional Engineer certification, Merl worked with various engineering and construction firms, primarily in bridge design, and authored several articles for engineering publications. He was quite proud to have begun his construction career as a journeyman ironworker and was a lifetime member of Local No. 3 of the Ironworkers Union. He was meticulous in most things he set out to do, such as building museum-quality wooden ship models with authentic knots and rigging. SWINSTON CAROL CAMPBELL Carol Campbell Swinston, age 77, was carried by angels into Heaven on Wednesday evening, January 24, 2018. Carol was most recently a resident of Longwood at Oakmont and a longtime resident of Fox Chapel. Carol grew up on Schenley Farms Terrace in Oakland. She was the daughter of Alice Arnd and Edmund Mudge Campbell. She married the late Robert William Swinston in 1969 and is survived by their son and daughter-in-law, Brook Campbell Swinston and Lin Cheng Swinston; and grandchildren, Beatriz and Hugh. She was predeceased by brother, Cary Arnd Campbell. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Holly Carlson Campbell; nephew, James Edmund Campbell; and niece, Susan Arnd Campbell. Carol was a 1958 graduate of the Ellis School and a 1962 B.S. recipient from the Pennsylvania State University. She moved to Italy upon college graduation and received the first of two Master's degrees in International Education from the University of Florence in 1966, and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970. She also obtained a Master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) in 1983. In the 1990's, she set off as an entrepreneur, founding Campbell Cross-Cultural Communications as Principal to lead task forces to assist multinationals, universities, and NGOs in the Pittsburgh region to bring in foreign investment and induct the families of transplanted foreign nationals to Pittsburgh. On the local to global stage, Carol was a chief catalyst in planning and executing two watershed Pittsburgh women's delegations abroad, the U.S. Women in Non-Profit Leadership delegations to Russia in 1994 sponsored by Magee Hospital Womencare International and recruited over 50 Pittsburgh women to participate in the UN Fourth World Conference on Women NGO Forum to China along with the office of the First Lady in 1995. Carol then served the United Nations Association (UNA) USA as President of the Pittsburgh chapter through 1997 and held two committee chairwomanships for the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh (WACP). Carol was an accomplished amateur golfer who won three Longue Vue Club championships. She dedicated major focus to WQED Pittsburgh as an active social advocate during her term on their Community Advisory Board of Directors. Carol rekindled her early love of art from living in Italy as a Carnegie Art Museum volunteer docent in her retirement. She had a special place in her heart for women's mentorship programs, ranging from serving the underprivileged to top achievers, from all nations, and was intensely devoted to assuring the future competitiveness and welfare of her hometown in the global marketplace. Her family will hold a memorial service for her at 10 a.m. at Christ Church Fox Chapel on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Anderson II, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 21, 2018, with his family by his side to send him on his journey. Robert, “Bobby”, “Bobtimus”, “Andy”, ”Yamovich” or “B.A.” as he was known by to his close friends, spent his Winters hunting and the Springtime fishing. He took much joy in the anticipation of having his daughters by his side learning from him about the great outdoors and hoped that they too would develop his love of the outdoor sports. The avid hunter, fisherman, sports enthusiast and loving father is survived by his mother; his two daughters, Alexa Marie and Lena Nicole Anderson; their mother, Melina Cortazzo; his sister, Doreen Kay Anderson and her partner, Gena Romano; and his sister, Marie Lyn Anderson and her partner, Anthony Dirda. CMAR RICHARD S. Age 51, of Batavia, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, at his residence. He was born February 3, 1966, in Duquesne, PA, son of Paul Cmar of Duquesne, PA and the late Marie Yarosik Cmar. He was married to his loving wife, Sherri L. Wilburn Cmar, who survives, for 28 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Emily Cmar; son, Richard (Paige) Cmar, Jr.; brothers, Dennis (Janice) Cmar, David Cmar, Robert (Patricia) Cmar; and many nieces and nephews. Rick was a devoted husband and the pride and joy of his life were his children. Richard was a United States Marine Corps veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, 2nd MP Company out of Pittsburgh, PA and a member of the Marine Corps League, Leather Neck Division, Amelia, OH. He's a member of the American Legion Post 72 of Mt. Carmel and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4283 of Batavia. He was the Vice President of Service Operations at General Data Company and proudly celebrated his 30th Anniversary with the company in November. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and as a member he was a Eucharistic Minister and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. In the Knights of Columbus, he was the past Grand Knight of Monsignor Gerdes Council 3123, past Faithful Navigator of Archbishop Liebold Assembly 1621, as well as Comptroller and former District Deputy of the Ohio State Council Knights of Columbus. Richard was a big proponent of volunteering; he was the Chartered Organizational Representative and former Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 741, St. Louis Church, Owensville and the former District Commissioner of U.S. Grant District, Dan Beard Council BSA. He also coached his sons baseball and basketball teams. Rick, along with his wife, Sherri, were cast members of the Ohio Renaissance Festival and portrayed the Lord and Lady Sussex. KORN DORIS A. Age 76, of Butler, formerly Observatory Hill, on January 26, 2018. Beloved wife for 51 years of Ambrose E. "Butch" Korn; loving mother of Douglas Korn, Colleen (Melvin) Wilbert, Ambrose Korn III, Tara (Jamie Wincovitch) Korn, Jacob (Maria) Korn, and John Korn; sister of Kathleen (Bob) Bauer; also survived by eight grandchildren, Leah, Logan, Riley, Mya, Cora, Hazel, Madison, and Jason. After raising her seven children, Doris worked as a Nurse's Aid at Vincentian Nursing Home for 30 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her family loved her back tremendously in return. With her departure, her survivors now suffer the insufferable. She will be dearly missed.
