PATRICK ROBERT A. AGE 84, LIFE...
PATRICK ROBERT A. Age 84, lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Born July 4, 1933, to Andrew and Grace (Balsis) Patrick, he grew up in the Brookline neighborhood with his siblings, Eileen Monahan, James (Sue) Patrick, and the late Helen Donahue. Robert and his beloved late wife of 44 years, Barbara (Mattas) had three children, Diane Boyer, Cindy Cox, and the late Robert G. Patrick. He was predeceased by his wife of seven years, Elvira (Betty) DiNardo in 2010. With three grandchildren, Patrick Boyer, Ph.D., Lindsay Boyer, and Haley Cox, Bob was a proud supporter of all their activities and educational achievements, especially Patrick's Eagle Scout project and buying Lindsay's Girl Scout cookies! Answering to both Uncle Bob or Bobby, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Robert was a veteran of the Army Tank Company, 33rd Infantry, and continued to serve in the Army Reserve until 1962. Bob was a retired pressman of 40 plus years with the Sun Telly, Pittsburgh Press, and Post-Gazette and a member of Graphic Communications Union Local 9. A longtime Steelers season ticket holder, he, like the rest of Pittsburgh, finally saw a winning team and managed to attend two of their early Super Bowls. You could always find Bob Memorial Day weekend in front of the TV so that he wouldn't miss the Indy 500. With his sense of adventure, the family enjoyed numerous years of Fourth of July birthday pool parties, camping, and boating trips throughout the US, and took off to wherever and whatever struck their fancy. With an abundance of kindness and giving from his heart and a never-ending sense of humor, everyone melted to his charm, fell for his practical jokes, and antics, and always left with a smile after spending time with him. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Arden Courts, North Hills, and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care, friendship, and laughing acceptance of his funny antics. Friends are invited to celebrate his life Friday, May 18, 2018, at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15102, with interment at Jefferson Memorial.
