Born on April 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ethel and Clyde Lane. Beloved wife to John Laffin for 63 years; loving mother to Suzanne Laffin, Linda (Michael) Lesniak, Jennifer (Tom) Galbraith, William (Haneet) Laffin; cherished grandmother to John, Jessica, Lauren, Jack, Tommy, Gracie, Jhoran, Saajin, and Arjun. Rachel was a champion golfer, and achieved a hole-in-one at the age of 81. She was also a champion bowler, and enjoyed tennis, playing Bridge, gardening, sewing, and traveling. She loved singing and was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir for several decades and enjoyed performing with the choir in many European Cathedrals. Rachel was a member of the Eastern Star and the Upper St. Clair Women's Club. Most of all, Rachel enjoyed spending time with her family. Her joyful spirit will live on in our hearts as we remember her motto to always have fun. The couple happily welcomed Samuel and Mary Jo into their family while living in Etna, PA. The two became proud grandparents to five grandchildren and great- grandparents to two. Antoinette passed on May 10, 2018, in Lebanon, IL, surrounded by family. Antoinette was preceded in death by her parents; her four sisters, Carmella, Elizabeth, Helen, and Mary Jane; her son; her companion, Herb Raith; and her husband. Antoinette is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Douglas McQuaid); her daughter-in-law, Joan; her grandchildren, Robert Przywitowski, Colleen McQuaid (John) Glattfelt, Jason Przywitowski (Jean), Jacob McQuaid (Amana), and Sarah McQuaid (Stephen) Seidel; and two great-grandchildren, Dallas and Reagan Seidel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was surrounded by her husband, Del; daughter, Nicole; and her dog, Reba. She was born on July 16, 1948, in Pittsburgh, daughter of Mary Laird, of Florida, and the late Stanley Stibber. Mary Ann graduated from Bellevue High School, in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Walker enjoyed casino card playing and bingo and, with her husband, was very active in Canton Township, particularly in relation to the Township Planning Commission. On July 7, 2007, she married Del Walker, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Anthony Corso, Angela Waxler, Nicole Corso, and Michael (Michelle) Corso; her grandchildren, Aurora Waxler, Kaitlyn Olstein, Abby Corso and Sammy Corso; a sister, Diane Karschnick, of Florida; and her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Catherine Walker. Deceased are a brother, Tommy Stibber; a daughter, Melissa Corso; and an aunt, Mary Gillespie. Mary Ann will be missed by many friends and good people. CONNOLLY Rev. BRIAN W., Ph.D. On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, Rev. Brian W. Connolly, Ph.D., age 89, at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Son of the late William J. and Margaret E. (O'Brien) Connolly; survived by cousins, including Jim (Marge) O'Brien, Kathleen (Ray) Gaugler, Tom O'Brien, Jack (Marge) O'Brien, and Giles Armstrong. Father Connolly was raised in Bellevue. He attended Assumption and St. Francis Xavier Elementary Schools and later North Catholic High School. He attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe and St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore. He earned advanced degrees and a doctorate in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh and later attended Oxford University in Oxford, England, for post-doctoral studies and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, for studies in Spiritual Direction. Father Connolly was ordained on June 4, 1955, by Bishop John Dearden at Saint Paul Cathedral, Pittsburgh, PA. He began his ministry in Pittsburgh as parochial vicar of St. Basil Parish in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood and St. Francis de Sales in McKees Rocks. For 42 years, Father Connolly was a professor of English literature at Xavier University in Cincinnati until his retirement in 2003. After his retirement, he assisted with weekend Masses at St. Joseph Church in North Bend, Ohio where he served for 23 years. He was also an adjunct lecturer and spiritual director at Pontifical College Josephinium in Columbus, Ohio. He most recently resided at Marian Manor. Father Connolly was loved by his students. In an evaluation, one of his graduate students said "I feel that I now have a more profound appreciation for literature. As a non-traditional student, I wish that such appreciation would have developed in earlier years." Visitation will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the LAWRENCE T.
