FISHER RICHARD "DICK" Richard "Dick" Fisher, The Big Fish, passed away September 11, 2018 leaving his family and the Pittsburgh community with memories of his huge heart and generous, fun-loving approach to life. He was born May 16, 1934 in Pittsburgh. His father, Charles Fisher, and mother, Dorothy Gleeson Fisher, lived in Fox Chapel and sent Dick to Shadyside Academy. He graduated in 1952. Dick attended Harvard University, where he played varsity soccer and was a member of the Fox Club. Soon after graduating, Dick married his first wife, Sheila Atkinson Fisher, and then received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. His career as a financial advisor spanned 50 years until he retired as a Vice President at UBS PaineWebber at age 78. Sometimes bold, often boisterous, and usually looking for a hug, Dick brought his infectious energy to all spheres of his life. In 1989, he married Dr. Nancy Nieland-Fisher. They shared many years of loving happiness before she passed in 2009. Dick was a member of the Duquesne Club, the HYP Club and a 66-year member of Fox Chapel Golf Club. He never retired, spending countless hours volunteering at St. Margaret's UPMC, CMU OSHER, and the Fox Chapel Rotary Club. As a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, he took his friends and family to games and once hoisted the Stanley Cup at his own raucous Penguins party. He is survived by his children and stepchildren, Eric Fisher, Sally Fisher Schoemann, Alexandra Fisher, Richard Fisher, Brita Boyd, Sarah Davis, Jennie Niedelman, Nathaniel Nieland and Ariel Nieland Forbes; ten grandchildren; many dear friends and former colleagues and folks from all over Pittsburgh who knew and loved him. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, on Sunday, September 16, from 3:00 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by a celebration of Dick's life at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Shadyside.  freyvogelfuneralhome.com Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
