Tootsie worked over 45 years at the Union Switch & Signal of Swissvale, a subsidiary of Westinghouse, in Wilmerding, PA. BRENNEN KAREN LEE (RUSSIN) Age 62, of N. Huntingdon, died March 14, 2014. Born in McKeesport on Aug. 25, 1951, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Laura Wozniak Russin. She graduated from Penn State Univ. as a registered nurse. She was employed at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville and many other hospitals in the area. She is a member of the Port Vue Methodist Church and their Women's Club, and an avid volunteer. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Robert Brennen; son, Mark Robert Brennen of N. Irwin; siblings, Richard (Miyong) Russin of Reston, VA, Lori (Jim) Balawajder of Penn Twp.; niece and nephew, Lauren and Jimmy Balawajder; mother-in-law, Ann Brennen of Port Vue. Lebanon Cemetery, 509 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA. Butch and George, two very different individuals united by a deep devotion to each other. Butch was a beloved, award-winning figure skating coach and teacher who wrote poetry, designed costumes and created stunning floral arrangements. George had a distinguished career as a hospital administrator, heading Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, then the South Hills Health System in Pittsburgh. He was famous for his kindness, his cheesecake, his volunteer work on behalf of the LBGQT community, and his passion for cross-country road trips. Butch is survived by daughter, Angela Ford Read; and grandson, Benjamin. George is survived by his three children, Judith Yeckel, Jeff Yeckel and Lisa Allen; and his six grandchildren. DICKSON MARTHA On the wings of an Angel, Martha Dickson, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away, March 10, 2014 (born 1920). She was born and raised in the City of Hof in the Franconia Region of Germany. Martha was actively involved as a child in sports and is a survivor of two bombing raids. She worked in Hof at a pharmaceutical company, Spinnerei and the U.S. Army/Air Force Kaserne. Martha then moved to France for a few years, and after that spent two years in England. She then emigrated to America, and as a military spouse, lived in several states before finally settling in Pittsburgh where, for almost 49 years, she remained in her Mt. Lebanon home. Martha worked in sales at Gimbel's (South Hills) for 19 years, then Kaufmann's, in Furs/Security for ten years, and lastly spent ten years until age 85 at the downtown Pittsburgh Burlington Coat factory store. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernestine (Umglaub) and Heinrich Wolfrum, Hof; sister, Erna Neuendorf, Karlsruhe, Germany; and her first born daughter, Elsbeth Kiyabu (Weagner) Pittsburgh, PA; along with her Lhasa Alpso companion, Alex. Martha is survived by her longtime caregiver and beloved grandson, Curtis Kiyabu, Mt. Lebanon; daughter, Brunhilda Leeper (Weagner), Fredericksburg, VA; and son, Raymond Dickson, GA. The family wishes to thank her friends, Dr. and Mrs. Pat Willoughby for their support over the past 40 years. Martha was also a member of the Hof Reunion Association. Funeral Service Monday, March 17, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Mausoleum in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Animal Friends.
