MURRAY MAUREEN (CORISTON) Age 72, died peacefully on December 23, after a long and valiant struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was the cherished wife of Ambrose Murray, best mother in the world to Elizabeth Murray (Edward Dunlea) and Catherine Murray (Adam Agalloco); and the doting grandmother of Ambrose William Dunlea. She was the daughter of the late John William Coriston and Margaret Rose Coriston; and niece of the late Abbot Charles V. Coriston. She was the sister of Marilyn Wilt, James Coriston and William Coriston. Maureen was compassionate, brave and tenacious in all aspects of her life, a dear friend and an inspiration to many. She was a writer and public speaking coach, advising persons near and far. After a bout with breast cancer, she put pen to paper and wrote and published “You are Never Alone, Prayers and Meditations to Sustain you through Cancer”, which has been a source of strength to many. She also authored “How to Sing in the Rain with a Frog in Your Throat” a collection of humorous stories to inspire, uplift, amuse and motivate those going through dif?cult moments. Throughout her life, she believed that there must be joy and laughter along the journey. In true fashion, Maureen kept her family laughing until the end. HITCHENS DOROTHY JOANNE Age 78, of North Huntingdon, died on December 22, 2018. She was born in McKeesport on March 28, 1940 and is the daughter of the late John B. and Anna C. Peterson Wood. Beloved wife for 61 years of Nelson Hitchens; loving mother of Cheryl (Frank Bohm) Hitchens, Craig Hitchens and Chris (Denise) Hitchens; beloved sister of Carolyn Wood, Robert (Nancy) Wood and the late Audrey (James) Leriotus; and cherished grandmother of Scott Hitchens, Andrew Hitchens, Melissa Rollinson and Nathan Liddell. A graduate of McKeesport High School and the University of Pittsburgh, Dorothy spent many years impacting young lives as a kindergarten teacher at White Oak Elementary School. She was a dedicated member of the McKeesport Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in a wide range of capacities, including serving as an Elder, teaching Sunday School and preparing food for those in need. She was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Dorothy and Nelson have been enthusiastic cyclists and traveled many of Pennsylvania's rails-to-trails together. HEBERLE ROBERT R ., Sr. Age 80, of Harmony Twp., passed away on December 19, 2018. Bob was the loving husband of Joan D. (Feitt) Heberle, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Edna (Hutchison) Heberle. In addition to his wife, Joan, he is also survived by his children, Linda Sue Gorman and husband, John, of Freedom, and Robert Heberle, Jr. and wife, Kelli, of Georgetown; ?ve grandchildren, John and Nicole Gorman, and Robert III, Alexis, and Maura Heberle; brother, Glenn and wife, Sheli, of Penn Township; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Staley and Audrey Heberle. Bob retired after a long career with Dravo Corp., from carpenter to Vice President of International Sales. SAUERS WAUCHTER NANCY JEAN (GEITHNER) Age 87 of Franklin Park and Cocoa Beach, Florida, after a brief illness and an enjoyable, long life. Nancy was born, and raised on Pittsburgh's North Side in Brighton Heights, and attended Oliver High School. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marceline (Doran) Geithner; her sister, Joanne Geithner Roman; her brother, James Geithner; her sister- in-law, Jane Ann Wauchter; and her husband, Raymond “Buzz” Sauers, who died in 1991, the father of her ?ve children. She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Wauchter and her ?ve children, Susan Sauers Muschweck, Nancy (David) Malone, David Sauers, Timothy (Lorraine) Sauers, and Patricia (Reverend Jack) Gabig.   She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Zachary (Caitlin) Malone, Max (Erin) Malone, Callahan Malone (Steven Lisowski), Samuel Sauers, Victoria Sauers, and Meredith and Isabel Muschweck.   Nancy was thrilled, and blessed, to have one great-granddaughter, Josephine Malone and another great-grandchild due (Zach and Cait), in the spring of 2019. Nancy's extended family included over 50 nieces and nephews and their children, along with brothers and sisters-in-law, Carol and Chuck Prenn, Dave and Kathy Sauers, Chris and Chas Sauers and Ruth Geithner. Nancy was especially blessed to have three doting stepdaughters, Christine and Harry Kirsch, Linda and Mark Nard and Jane and Michael Bickel; along with grandchildren, Heidi and Lenny Thomas, Jill and Banker Beach, Michael and Sharon Bickel, Lindsay Merritt and Ryan, Josh and Lisa Nard, Rachel Nard, Juliet and Genevieve Thomas, Mina and Banker Beach, Sydney and Kira Bickel, Tyler, Kinley, Everly, Ryder Merritt; and great-grandson, Joseph Nard.   Nancy was well known by many as she spent 25 years on the ice rink, in North Park, teaching ?gure skating lessons. More than anything, Nancy loved her kids and grandchildren beyond measure. She and Jerry enjoyed 25 amazing years of traveling the world, and their beloved beach home in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where they made life-long friends.   They both loved to dance and attend concerts.   Gardening was a favorite pastime for Nancy and Jerry, along with attending every event her grandchildren participated in.   The family would like to thank the devoted staff of Vincentian Home for the compassionate care Nancy received in the ?nal months of her life.     Family and friends received Wednesday, December 26, 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at the GEORGE A. MILLER WALTER S. Walter S. Miller, 90, of McKeesport, died Monday, December 24, 2018, at Manor Care of Peters Township. Born in Greensburg, September 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Emerson and Florence Swauger Miller. Husband of the late Clara A. Lazar Miller, he is survived by his daughters, Clara A. Miller of McKeesport and Donna (Don) Kovac of Hickory, PA; three grandchildren; two great- granddaughters; sisters, Dorothy Lesawsky and Callie Boyle; and his brother, Russell Miller. He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Derkas and Rachel McWilliams. He was a baker at the former Balsamo's and the former Guentert's Bakery in Braddock, was a former member of St. Peter's Church and the 11th Ward Club, and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the HUNTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132. Private interment will take place in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
