Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Santa (Bevacqua) Fragomeni; sister of Frank (Esperanza) Fragomeni of Spain, Mary Rose (late Samuel) Santangelo of FL, Rita (late Mario) Lavella of East McKeesport, John (Kathleen) Fragomeni of Penn Hills, Virginia (late William) Bartges of Murrysville, Amelia (John) Faith of Greensburg and Anne (John) Fink of North Huntingdon. Sylvia is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her pet cat, Casper'. Sylvia was a former employee of Mellon Bank with 37 years of service. Her last 10 years were as the Branch Manager in Wilkinsburg. After her career at Mellon, she became employed with Parkvale in Monroeville. Sylvia was a long-time member of St. Colman Church. She enjoyed reading but her life's greatest passion was being a caregiver for her mother. There will not be a viewing or visitation. NANCY L. (TESSORE) CARLO Age 77, of Moon Township passed away peacefully on July 9, 2020. Born on October 21, 1942, she was one of two children to the late Betty and Dante Tessore. Nancy loved NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. She was devoted to her teams and always knew their entire roster. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and Yahtzee. Nancy also was an election poll volunteer. Nancy is survived by her children, Susan Kavalukas (Michael) of Moon Township and Tony Carlo (Lisa) of Coraopolis; two grandchildren, and her brother, Dante Tessore (Linda) of South Heights. REV. RICHARD WEISS Rev. Richard Weiss, 82, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, was ordained a Deacon in August of 1979 by the Most Reverend Patricio Flores in El Paso, TX, and ordained a priest in Monroeville, PA by the Most Reverend Reymundo Peña. Father Weiss served in numerous parishes throughout the El Paso Diocese, including St. Thomas Aquinas & Our Lady of Assumption. During his tenure, he served as Spiritual Director of St. Charles Seminary, Director of Reverence for Life, Director of the Permanent Deaconate Program, and served in the Presbyteral Council. He retired from active ministry in 2017 after 37 years of faithful service. Father Weiss was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. Weiss, Mary C. Weiss; brothers, Walters A. Weiss, Jr., Ronald C. Weiss; and sister, Audrey M. Nicholson. He is survived by sister-in-law, Bernice Weiss; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to John and Laverne DuMond in El Paso for their dedication, help and friendship given all these years. Rest in peace Uncle Root. Fr. Weiss will be interred at Mt. NEIL E. O'DONNELL Passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, after a recent health battle after surviving a stroke. Neil was a resident of Mt. Lebanon. He attended Life Works and Step by Step's Adult Training Center. Neil is preceded in death by his parents, John Howard and Mary Lois O'Donnell; brothers, Ronan, Daniel O'Donnell, John O'Donnell of Meriden, New Hampshire and Brian O'Donnell of Houston, TX; sister, Mary Jolley of Great Falls, Montana, Patricia Lobach of O'Fallon, Montana. Neil, who liked to be called "Officer O'Donnell", had a bigger than life personality. He was a big fan of the WWF. LAWRENCE (LARRY) F. VASSAMILLET Age 95, died peacefully under the care of Hope Hospice at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida on July 3, 2020. He was born on September 14, 1924, in Elisabethville, Belgian Congo (now known as Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo). His mother, Laura Amelia Wyatt, an American Methodist missionary, was teaching school in the Congo. His father, Emile Vassamillet, had been a member of the Belgian resistance during WWI and was stationed in the Congo as a member of the Belgian military. His parents immigrated to the United States when he was three. Larry grew up in his mother's home town of Tilton, NH. He graduated from Tilton School and received an undergraduate degree in physics from MIT, a PhD in crystallography from the University of Liege, Belgium as a Fulbright Scholar, and a PhD in metallurgy from Carnegie Institute of Technology. Intending to stay in Pittsburgh only a couple of years, he ended up making Pittsburgh his home for 30 years. He was an academic research scientist at Mellon Institute and, when it merged with Carnegie Tech to become Carnegie Mellon University in 1970, he joined the faculty and was a professor in Material Sciences. In 1953, he married Pittsburgh native, Edie Pennoyer. He was a scientist and she was a kindergarten teacher. They were an unlikely, but perfectly suited, couple. They were married for 57 years before Edie passed away in 2011. He is survived by their two daughters, Laura Vassamillet (Charles Smith) of Sewickley, Pennsylvania and Marti Nolan (David) of Abingdon, Maryland; five grandchildren, Nicole Martino (Matt), Emilie Rubin (Max), Ryan Nolan (Brian Goslin), Maddie Leland (Aaron) and Danika Nolan (Nicolas LaFay); and five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb and Calista Martino, Charlotte Leland and Dorothy Rubin. He is also survived by an honorary daughter and her husband, Jenifer and Terry Wynne of Columbus, Ohio; and his brothers-in-law, Red (Sal) and Chuck, and sister-in-law, Miss Anne Pennoyer Newcomb; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his two sisters and their husbands, Sue and Warren Goodell and Lucie and Richard Blythe. The family is extremely grateful to the staff of The Arbor at Shell Point for the very special care that they provided to both Edie and Larry. BETTY NOAH Age 87, of Swissvale, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Southmount Skilled Nursing of Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington, PA. She was born November 27, 1932, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Stacey and Margaret Noah. Betty was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School, Heidelberg College, BA and University of Pittsburgh, M.Ed and PhD, ABD. She retired from the University of Pittsburgh as Assistant to the Director of continuing education for women. Throughout her career, she also worked as a counselor for Aids Interfaith Care Teams, as an administrative assistant, and as an Elementary School Teacher. Betty was known for her gift of service. She was an active leader and member of Trinity United Church of Christ (Wilkinsburg) and Mt. Hope Community Presbyterian Church (Penn Hills). Betty was passionate about her work with the Pittsburgh Presbytery Partnership in the Synod of Blantyre, Malawi, Africa. She traveled with the team to Malawi five times. Betty particularly enjoyed working with youth as a local Girl Scout leader and interdenominational youth work on local, state and national levels. Betty was a voracious reader, enjoyed knitting, traveling and supporting her grandchildren's varied activities. She enjoyed many summer family beach vacations and regular vacations with her college friends. Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (Mark) Caffrey of Canonsburg, Suzanne (Bruce) Columbus of Aspinwall; four grandchildren, Lee (Matt) Burnsworth, Alex Caffrey, Sam and Natalie Columbus; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Andrea Burnsworth. Born Apr. 7, 1951 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Steve and Bessie (Pekarsky) Lugarich. A 1973 graduate of Penn State University with a BA in Accounting, Stephen retired in 2019 as a Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking for PNC Bank. He was also a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish (St. Patrick's Church), the CFU Lodge #146, and the Penn State Alumni Association. His family will always regard Stephen as a kind, thoughtful, driven, honest, nurturing, and grounded man; and remember him as an artist, father, golfer, doting grandfather, and a man that we should all aspire to be.
