RIEHL MILDRED (THOMPSON) Age 89, of Friendship Village, on Friday, June 27, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Edward P. Riehl; loving mother of Diane (Robert) Unetich, William (Kimberly) Riehl, Mary Ann (George) Belles and Joan Riehl-Fitz; cherished Nana of Michael, Richard, William, Jr. “Billy”, Rachael, Ryan, Emily, Michelle, Brian, Jacob, Joshua, and the late John Unetich; loving great- Nana of John Robert “JR”, Charles, William, Audrey, Madeline, Greyson, Megan, Katherine, Evan, Zachary, David, and Nicholas; sister of the late Dolores Luzader; also survived by nieces and nephews. Mildred was the treasurer of the Volunteer Service Board auxiliary of Magee-Women's Hospital for many years. She loved music and reading, and enjoyed her many friendships at Friendship Village. BELCHER CAROL RUTH (BREHM) Age 68, of Wilkins Twp., on Thursday, June 26, 2014. It is with a heavy heart we mourn the unexpected death of Carol. Beloved wife of Thomas Belcher; loving mother of John Belcher and Janette Johnson (Randy Dunnivan); dear grandmother of Nikki and Lori Johnson and Morgan Dunnivan; sister of Nancy (Al) Walthour, Shirley (late Paul) Livengood, and Janice Brehm (Claude Spencer); sister-in-law of Ruth Frank; and brother-in-law, Roger Costic (Diedre); also many nieces and nephews. Carol was a kind-hearted, supportive wife, mother, grandma, and sister who always made those around her know they were loved. She thought education to be very important and never stopped learning, even studying online once retired. She embraced advancements in technology and enjoyed her years at Westinghouse Electric and Nuclear divisions. Her passion was using the internet advancements to define and document her family ancestry, spending many of her retirement hours connecting the branches of her family tree. She loved spending time in nature, boating, camping, fishing, gardening, and traveling. She was a blessing to this world and will truly be missed by her loving family. LOMBARD HENRY JOSEPH February 1, 1930 – June 24, 2014, Henry Joseph Lombard, age 84, died peacefully in his sleep in Venice, FL. Henry was born in Escanaba, MI. He lived in New York, Paris, Pittsburgh, and Florida, and loved to travel. He had a long career with IBM as an engineer and an economic forecaster. Henry was an avid fly-fisherman and hunter. He loved skiing, curling, and painting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Byrne Lombard. He is survived by his wife, Marianne Herdani Lombard; brother, James Lombard of Ann Arbor, MI; daughter, Frances Lombard Donahue (Thomas) of Pittsburgh, PA; and son, Henry Garrett Lombard (Heidi) of Hopkinton, MA; ten grandchildren, Henry Lombard, Connor Lombard, Thomas Donahue, Jacqueline Donahue, Richard Donahue (Erin), Kathleen Wallach (Richard), Christine Sickler (Michael), Peter Donahue, Rebecca Donahue, Amy Donahue; two great- grandchildren, John Sickler and Andrew Wallach; and step-daughter, Elaine Herdani and her daughter, Karina. McCARTHY ROBERT C. “BOB” Winter Park, FL, formerly Fox Chapel, PA, Robert C. McCarthy died Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Winter Park, Florida. Born September 22, 1924, in Pittsburgh, Bob was a graduate of Taylor Alderdice High School and Duke University. A member of the Duke University Naval Unit, Bob served at Great Lakes Naval Station in Chicago. His entire business career was spent in the surety industry. After working for the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland for 21 years, he founded Robert C. McCarthy Agency, Inc. in 1969. He retired from the agency in 1990 to live in Longboat Key, FL. In 2004, Bob moved to Winter Park, FL. Surviving are his wife of nearly 64 years, Lillian Milich McCarthy; his two sons, Robert, Jr. (Aspinwall, PA) and Kevin (Judith) (Winter Park, FL); and his grandchildren, Charles and Anne. SLUSSER ROBERT M. “BOB”, Jr. Age 71, of New Salem, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born August 24, 1942, in Braddock, PA, a son of the late Robert M. Slusser, Sr. and Maxine Sine Konopka Slusser. Bob was a member of the former Holy Rosary Church in Republic, retired from Allstate Insurance Co., where he worked as a claims adjuster. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a member of the Hopwood Amvets Post 103, and a member of the Rollin Oldies Car Club. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Slusser; a sister, Vicki Gowton; and his parents. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Patrice Sciullo Slusser; children, Jared Slusser and fiancee, Samanthea Kniha, of Monessen, PA, Jason Slusser, of Cranberry Township, PA, and Holly Slusser Kern, of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Savannah Slusser, and Samantha and Riley Kern; and brothers, Jerry Slusser, of California state, Joseph Konopka, of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Bobby Joe "B.J." Konopka, of Mt. Pleasant, PA. Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. BROWN-OAKES MARLAS ELAINE Age 63, of Pittsburgh, PA, went home to be with the Lord June 24, 2014 at her home. She was born October 1, 1950, to the late Donald L. Brown and Ethel Madelyn Smith. She was a systems operator at the time of her passing, employed by the McKesson Corporation. A graduate of Baldwin High School, Marlas loved music and was an avid Steelers fan. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend she leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Anthony Robert Brown of Pittsburgh, PA and Jeremy L. Oakes of Pittsburgh, PA; one daughter and son-in-law, Nicole Marie (Ryan) Sockwell of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale L. (Andrea) Brown of Jacksonville, Florida and Dean L. (Stacey Lynn) Brown of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica Kathleen Brown of Pittsburgh, PA and Darcia (Terrell) Ellis of Houston, Texas; and sister-in-law, Cherryl Brown of Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond D. and Donald L. Brown. KNUTH CONSTANCE BUCH Resident of Chatham Village, Mt. Washington, died Monday, June 23, 2014, from a massive stroke. Connie is the wife of Robert Craig Knuth, architect. They celebrated their 56th anniversary June 11, 2014. Their three sons are David (Mary), Robert (Renee) and William (Karen) Knuth; grandchildren include Meghan, Reid, Haley, Robert and Rachel Knuth; sister of deceased, David (Carol) Buch; and sister-in-law, Kathy Buch. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents were Adelaide Hulings Lappe and William Herbert Buch. No service, viewing or visitation per her wish. A celebration of life is planned for a date to be announced. Connie was an accomplished mother, homemaker, artist, teacher, and poet. (Linda) Rapneth III, Vincent Rapneth, and Suzanne Sunseri; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was a WWII veteran, U.S. Army, saw much action, including the D-Day Invasion, and was the recipient of six Bronze Stars. After the war, he was a troubleshooter for IBM for almost 44 years, and was a Master Mason.
