PRIATKO HELEN (DUTKA) Age 81, ended her 30 year struggle with breast and bladder cancer with her peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at UPMC Mercy Hospital, surrounded by her loving family as they sang liturgical hymns and prayed. She was born February 18, 1933, in Braddock, a daughter of the late Alexander and Catherine Senkow Dutka. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Dutka and Reverend Joseph Dutka. She is survived by her caring husband of 57 years, Bill; her loving children, Debbie Priatko and Dan Priatko of North Huntingdon, Lt. Colonel Dave Priatko (US Army, Retired) and his wife, Dottie of Toccoa, Georgia, and Kathy Sekera and her husband, Keith of Level Green; and four grandchildren, Michaela and David Priatko and Kurtis and Kristopher Sekera; she is also survived by her sisters, Olga Prascsak of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Rose Marie Estrella of Longwood, Florida; and her brothers, Alexander Dutka of Monroeville and John Dutka of North Huntingdon; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a long-time member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Donora, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir and was a proud, active member of the St. Nicholas Society and the Federated Orthodox Christians in America. She loved Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved her family and friends. She adored being affectionately called "my little Katrinka" by her loving husband, Bill. She was the epitome of a wonderful Christian wife and mother; she will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at UPMC Mercy Hospital, especially Same Day Surgery and the Intensive Care Unit, for their wonderful compassion and loving care. They especially thank Dr. James McCague for his extraordinary professionalism and compassion during Helen's 30 year cancer challenge. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA. A short Panahida will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Donora with the Very Reverend Igor Soroka officiating. Please go directly to the church. ADAMS DR. JOHN W. Age 76, of Perryopolis, PA, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Linda Paynter Adams; children, Zane (Sandra) Adams of West Palm Beach, FL, Sean Adams of Pittsburgh, Laura Adams of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret (George) Ondayko of West Mifflin; and nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Wayne and Margaret Taylor Adams; and his brother, David Adams. Dr. Adams received his Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from City University, London. He is the author of Smart Marketing for Non Profits, Selling the Family Business and US Expatriate Handbook (US and Chinese editions), Global Assignment Americans Abroad-The Adams Report and several journal articles. His research includes Organizational Behavior: Careerist Orientation Among Expatriate and Non-Expatriate Employees. He served as an Adjunct Professor, College of Business and Economics, Department of Finance at West Virginia University. As an international consultant, he worked with many major firms in the US and abroad including the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Nassau, Bermuda, Switzerland, Luxemburg and Dubai. He was the Co-Founder of European Association of Planned Giving, London, and the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council; past President of Pittsburgh Chartered Life Underwriters and Pittsburgh Estate Planning Council; member of International Tax Planners Association, Society of Financial Service Professionals, Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. John played baseball for Penn State and went on to assist with spring training batting practice for the Pirates in Bradenton, FL. Continuing with his love of baseball, he umpired minor league baseball up through the International League. He continued assisting as a coach in college baseball at Palm Beach Community College, FL. WILLIAMS DONALD R. Age 71, of St. Marys, PA, died with his family by his side at Hershey Medical Center, on Tuesday afternoon, June 24, 2014. He was born October 9, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Bob and Dorothy Williams. On April 17, 1978, in St. Marys, PA, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Catalone Williams, who survives. Don graduated from Upper St. Clair High School and served with the National Guard. He worked in the construction business throughout the area for many years. He was a promoter of Slovenian style polka music and was the host of The Don Williams Polka Review for more than 30 years. In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by his children, David J. (Jill) Forster, Kersey, Dawn (Marc) Williams-Zabicki, Presto, PA, Debra (Rob) D'Arrigo, McMurray, PA, Gene P. Williams, St. Marys, PA, and Angela R. Meyer, St. Marys; and nine grandchildren, Austin, Andrew, Drake, Lindsey, Joey, Rocco, Nicolas, Dino and Jonah; he is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ellen (Ross) Osterritter, Summerville, SC and Kathy (Cookie) Brown, South Fayette, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Dorothy Williams; and his brother, David Williams. There will be no visitation. NOREIKA ALEXANDER J. Age 79, formerly of Wilkins Township, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at his home in West Chester, PA. He was the beloved husband of Gloria J. Noreika (Fitzgerald) for over 50 years. Alex grew up in Philadelphia. He received his bachelor's degree in physics from Drexel and his doctorate from the University of Reading, England. He worked as a physicist at Westinghouse R&D in Churchill from 1966 until his retirement in 1991. After retiring, he taught math and physics at various colleges and universities around Pittsburgh. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Gloriana of Downingtown, PA, Maryellen of Wilmington, DE, and Keith (Cristina), of Alexandria, VA; a brother, William F. Noreika; and a sister, Eleanor N. Ewing, both of Philadelphia; and five granddaughters. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, 701 Lincoln Hwy. E., Exton, PA 19341. Interment will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA. BARTLEY NORA C. Age 88, passed away June 17, 2014, due to heart failure. She was born to William and Sarah Cunningham of Turtle Creek, PA in 1926 and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Nursing in 1948. In 1949, Nora married "Brick" Bartley, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She spent her 33 year nursing career at the Veterans Administration at Highland Drive in Pittsburgh. In 2004, she moved to Boise, ID to be near her daughter, Natalie Bartley. Nora's hobbies included traveling, volunteering, painting, needle pointing, reading, gardening and decorating. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, sister, Dorothy Genre and brother, Henry Cunningham. Nora is survived by her daughter, Natalie Bartley; son-in-law, Dave Lindsay, grand-dog, Bruneau; sister, Shirley Cunningham; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Heartfelt gratitude goes out from the family to the numerous warm and caring staff of Morning Star Senior Living of Boise and Horizon Home Health & Hospice. Memorial Services were held June 22, 2014, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Boise. Nora will rest eternally with her husband in the William Penn Cemetery in Churchill, PA. Betty was a graduate of Chatham College (then the Pennsylvania College for Women). She worked with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for 40 years, first in a volunteer capacity, then as a board member. He leaves his wife, Carol (McSteen) Nawrocki; four children, Robert, Karen, Bill, and Linda; and four grandchildren, John, Mitchell, Sadie, and Maisie. He was an engineer, avid reader, model airplane enthusiast, and a member of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Iowa. COCHRAN VIOLET JAYNE "VEE JAY" Age 83, of McDonald, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in St. Clair Hospital. She was born July 8, 1930, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Robert W. and Violet J. (Cheesebrough) Giles. Mrs. Cochran was a 1948 graduate of McDonald High School, where she was valedictorian and completed the equivalent of an MBA as a member of the first co-op program between the University of Pittsburgh and the Joseph Horne Company in merchandising. She subsequently worked as an assistant buyer for the Joseph Horne Co., followed by employment at the newly created Blue Cross Insurance Company, she then worked in the production planning department of U.S. Steel Co. until she married Garvin “Gig” John Cochran, Jr. from Midway, who passed away February 7, 2002. She served on the Fort Cherry School Board and was a self-trained milliner and seamstress, in addition to participation in other fine art pursuits. An excellent chef, Vee Jay was active in local politics, raised Cocker Spaniels, and enjoyed animals of all breeds. Surviving are her children, V. Lynne (Donald Fetterolf, M.D.) Cochran, D.M.D. of Oakdale, Ann Cochran of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Beth Alana Cochran of Oakdale, and Matthew Giles (Sandy Tozzi) Cochran of Oakdale; grandchildren, Lynn Cochran Allan, Levio Robert Corgnati, Max Garvin Corgnati, John Giles Cochran, Joseph George Cochran, and Peter Michael Cochran. Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the THOMAS-LITTLE FUNERAL SERVICE, INC., 314 W. Ruth's husband, Charles R. Cline, died in 1981. She was a graduate of Garfield Business School and Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. She always devoted time to volunteer wherever she lived. Her family would like to thank the staff at Emeritus at Palmer Ranch and Tidewell Hospice for the compassionate care given to their mother.
