Born September 23, 1927, in McKees Rocks, he was the son of the late Michael and Anastasia (Strayniak) Woloshynowich. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 58 years, Shirley (Wootton) Walsnovich; his three children, William R. Walsnovich and his wife, Susan, of Beaver, Judy Gurtner and her husband, Louis, of Glenshaw, and Deb Greiner and her husband, Greg, of Cranberry Township; his brother, Paul Walsnovich of Moon Township; his seven grandchildren, Megan, Casey, Craig, Kellen (Kim), Andrew, Mark, and Cory; his two great-grandchildren, Logan and Marlo; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved four-legged friend, Miss Molly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers. DUFFUS ROBERT HENRY Age 82, of Amelia Island, FL, passed away Saturday morning, August 9, 2014, at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach. Mr. Duffus was born on July 18, 1932, in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Henry Beveridge and Lena Tourville Duffus. His father was transferred by Westinghouse to Pittsburgh, PA, where the family lived for the remainder of his developing years. He spent summers at the family cottage in the Thimble Islands off the coast of Connecticut, and at camps in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He attended Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, PA, graduating in 1950, then Carnegie Institute of Technology (CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1954. While in school, Mr. Duffus was a member of the ROTC and, after graduating, served two years with the United States Army in Virginia and Washington. During college and for 43 years after, he was employed by Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG), retiring in 1996. He has several patents in his name. While in college, he met and married his first wife, Janet Rowley Duffus. Working for the glass industry took him and his family to locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and Washington, ending at the Research and Development Lab. in Pittsburgh. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church wherever he was located, and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach and the Amelia Island Club. Mr. Duffus enjoyed sailing, tennis, swimming, taking long walks, volunteering in various capacities, and spending time with his family, whenever the opportunities arose. He has been a resident of Amelia Island since moving to the Plantation after retirement in 1996. Along with his parents, Mr. Duffus was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Rowley Duffus; his sister, Ruth Duffus Morin; his brother-in-law, Don Morin; and a nephew, David Morin. He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Barbara Frey Duffus of Amelia Island, FL; his son, Kenneth Morton Duffus and his wife, Dea, of Eagle River, AK; his daughter, Linda Duffus Flanagan and her husband, Jim, of Fort Salonga, NY; and son, John Robert Duffus and his wife, Tina, of Hyndman, PA; his grandchildren, Beth Duffus, Michelle Duffus, Rachel Duffus, Scott Duffus, Erin Duffus, Reginald Duffus, and Ross Duffus; his stepdaughters, Catharine Cuddeback and her husband, Pat Rupp, of Edina, MN, Joan Cuddeback and her husband, Sri Nivargikar, of Vienna, VA and Susan Kemp and husband, Brian, of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, David Fahl, Elizabeth Kemp and Henry Kemp; as well as his special cat, Thea. A private service will be held at a future date in Pittsburgh. FERKO CIHOTA MARY "BABA" (BARAN) In her 90th year, early Sunday morning, August 10, 2014, called home to her beloved Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Born a U.S. citizen in Slovakia in April 1925, Mary came to McKeesport in 1946 with her mother to rejoin the rest of the family following the end of World War II. Here she learned English at night and served lovingly as a nurses' aide at McKeesport Hospital for more than 30 years. She met her beloved Andy Ferko, a returning GI from the war, at a Slovak club dance. After a brief courtship (Andy told friends after the first dance that beautiful Mary Baran was the woman for him), they married and were blessed with one daughter. After 24 loving years of marriage, Andy was taken home to the Lord. Later, Mary married John Cihota, a family friend and widower with four children. She became loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to an extended family. Her reputation as an excellent Slovak cook and baker was well earned and widely appreciated. Dear mother of Rita Ferko Joyce (Patrick) of Robinson Twp.; and grandmother of Jesse of New York City and Matthew of Washington, D.C., with whom she made her home for nearly 30 years; loving stepmother of Sister Jeanne Marie Cihota, OSBM, of Phoenix, AZ, the late Patricia Cihota of Florida, John (Laurie) Cihota of Pensacola, FL, and Mary Lynn (Joseph) Rebholz of Pickerington, OH); and loving grandmother to Brian (Catherine), Jason (Kate), and Annette Rebholz, and John (Terry), Jerry (Holly), Diane, and Tom (Kristie) Cihota, and Natalie (Ryan) Heitman; and 13 great- grandchildren.
