FINK FRANCES HAZUZA Of North Huntingdon, PA, and a recent resident of the Asbury Heights Villas in Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Allegheny General Hospital, surrounded by her loving children. She was 88 years old. Frances was born in Rillton, PA, the daughter of Martin and Frances Bohacik Hazuza. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Julia Hrapchak, and is survived by her brother, George (Betty) Hazuza of Rillton. Frances spent 56 joyful years married to her high school sweetheart, Donald M. Fink, who left her to return to the Lord in October of 2005. She was a loving and devoted mother to her three children, Linda (David) Grapes of Crafton, PA, Carl M. Fink (Peggy, deceased) of Potomac, Maryland, and Donald R. Fink (Georgia) of State College, PA. She was the proud grandmother of nine beautiful grandchildren, Jesse A. Grapes (Liz) of Richmond, VA, Ashleigh K. Chung (So) of Media, PA, Alexis L. Young (Neil) of Des Moines, IA, Reid N. Grapes (Carla) of Erie, PA, Taylor C. Grapes (Sheila) of Pittsburgh, PA, Rachel E. Fink of Bethesda, MD, Adrienne E. Grapes of Raleigh, NC, Mackenzie A. Grapes of Pittsburgh, PA, and Christian A. Maguire of Hampton, NH. Frances was so proud to be the great-grandmother to Aaron Grapes, Mercy Grapes, Lily Chung, Andrew Grapes, Flynn Chung, Elias Grapes, Margo Chung, Frances Greer Young (her namesake), and Gunnar Pruitt Grapes. Frances was looking forward to the celebrating the births of two new great-grandchildren in the coming months. Everyone who knew Frances loved her for the joy and energy that she brought to their lives. She was a skilled baker, and for many years she ran the Slovenian Booth at the Pittsburgh Folk Festival with her dear friend, Betty Hezir. Frances was always baking for someone. And the aromas and pastries that came from her humble kitchen will be missed, particularly by her family, and devoted and loving neighbors, Donald and Marion Myslewski, and her dear friends in Crafton, PA. Her delicacies were often featured in local newspapers, along with photos and recipes. Frances loved the out of doors. She enjoyed picking berries, apples, and cherries, which she would make into delicious pies. She loved to walk in the woods, and could point out the names of all of the trees and vegetation. Frances had a short, but exciting, career as a long distance telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company. She was a cafeteria volunteer at the St. Agnes School for many years, and enjoyed cooking for and chatting with the students. Her friendships with her fellow volunteers spanned the years. She was a member of the St. Agnes Christian Mothers. Frances and her husband, Donald enjoyed life together. They were season tickets holders for the Steelers' games. Frances and Don traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. They loved attending Sunday ethnic picnics with their friends and family. She was a sports fan extraordinaire, and until her death could carry on a detailed conversation about the NFL football draft, and the final results and scores for the latest golf tournaments. Most importantly, Frances Hazuza Fink was a fine and honorable woman. She never believed in holding a grudge, she helped everyone in her life without ever expecting a thing in return, she kept her opinions to herself and did not pass judgment, and she cared for all those in her life…no matter how peripherally…with the love and devotion of a mother. She was truly a shining example a good and decent person, and an example for all humanity to follow. And she will be missed…more than words can express. We love you, Mom.
