METZ DONALD G. Age 75, of Slippery Rock, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Don was born February 11, 1940, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Wilbur Metz and the late Louella Sittig Metz. Don was 1958 graduate of Oliver High School and a Veteran of the United States Army, having served as an Airborne Ranger with the 101st Airborne Division for two years in Germany. He joined the Local Union 2235 in Pittsburgh as a pile driver in 1967. Don enjoyed his grandchildren and the outdoors. Don is survived by his wife, Joan Shields Metz, whom he married, July 7, 1962; two daughters, Joy Smith and her husband, Z. Kent, of West Sunbury and Danene Leasher and her husband, Robert, of Zelienople; and three grandchildren, Zena and Jordan Smith and Brett Zasadni; one brother, Edward (Joanne) Metz of Grove City also survives.
