FARRELL MINNIE MAE MINDY Of McDonough, Georgia, formerly of Irwin, PA and Miami, FL passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. She is survived by her loving children Ruth (Johnny) Rucker of McDonough, GA, John (Susan) Farrell of Atlanta, GA, Jonee Farrell of Cleveland, OH, Suzan (Gary) Schultz of Pittsburgh, PA, and Scott (Denise) Farrell of Johns Creek, GA; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Tubbs of McDonough, GA (formerly of Medina, OH); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her most loving husband and best friend, John Joseph Jack Farrell, who passed away September 9, 1993. Mindy was born June 5, 1926, in Irwin, PA to the late Lloyd and Grace Lauffer and was the youngest of six children. She had a great sense of humor and a beautiful style for which she will always be remembered. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at McDonough Presbyterian Church, 427 McGarity Road, McDonough, GA 30252. FLANNERY BARBARA ROPER Age 75, of Port Orange, FL, died on Sunday, October 18, 2015. "Barb" or "Bobbie" Flannery, daughter of Stephen and Mildred, loving wife of Patrick Flannery, passed away in her sleep in her Port Orange home. Barb is survived by her husband, Patrick; daughters, Kathleen (Jeffrey) and Jennifer (Geoff); and son, Patrick (Lynn). She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Sasha and Henry. Barb was born in Youngstown, OH, where she and her brother, Rich, were often found at the Isaly's. Barb was proud to be one of the first women admitted to engineering at Carnegie Tech (now CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. She later got her MBA in business at the University of Pittsburgh. Barb and Patrick met in Pittsburgh, PA in 1962 and were married in Youngstown, OH in 1963. Barb taught computer programming while she and Patrick raised their three children where they resided in Pittsburgh. Barb loved spending time with her grandchildren and had a sharp sense of humor. Barb and Patrick shared over 52 years of marriage together. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. GREEN ROBERT D. A kind, generous gentleman and a lifelong resident of Moon Township, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at his home, at age 83. He was born in Moon Township on August 27, 1932, to the late Carl and Isabel (Kelly) Green. On February 15, 2013, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Bertha (Rozsa) Green. Loving father of Patricia Penman (Al Corona) of Racine, WI and Thomas Green (Christine) of Atlanta, GA; cherished grandfather of Katherine and Michelle Penman; brother of William Green (Jane) of Geneseo, NY and the late Betty Anthony, Ruth Duncan and Richard Green. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, Bob was a longtime employee of the Moon Township Road Department as lead mechanic. Bob took great pride in his lawn and gardens and was a car and racing enthusiast. He will be remembered for his kind spirit and love of helping others. SCHMITT CHARLES DANIEL Age 86, of Boalsburg, died Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born April 14, 1929, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Raymond G. and Marie F. Woods Schmitt. On June 25, 1955, he married Elizabeth Ann Keener, who preceded him in death on October 19, 1983. He is survived by five children, Teresa M. Schmitt of Boalsburg, Charles D. Schmitt, Jr. and his wife, Ramona, of Avon, CT, Raymond E. Schmitt and his wife, Barbara, of South Bend, IN, Elizabeth A. Adams of Boalsburg, and James V. Schmitt and his wife, Vida, of Naperville, IL; one sister, Marie F. Kane of Pittsburgh; and 16 grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kenneth Adams. Charles was a 1947 graduate of Langley High School, Pittsburgh. He received a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1969. He served in the United States Army from April of 1951 until being honorably discharged in April of 1953 during the Korean Conflict. Charles retired in 1989 from Schenley High School, in Pittsburgh, as a Vocational Arts/Printing Teacher. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. BLANK EMMAGENE (BOLES) Age 92, of Forest Hills, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late William Blank whom she met at Stuttgart Army Base in Arkansas while she worked in the bomb factory and he was waiting to be discharged. Loving mother of William Paul Blank, Dennis (Lisa) Blank, and Deborah (Paul) Thompson; also survived by ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Emmagene was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Doggett; her grandson, Louis Cecere III; and her siblings, Lawrence Boles, Ann Foster, and Jack Boles. Emmagene started off her work career teaching in a one room schoolhouse in the backwoods of Tennessee. She then worked for Consolidated Vaulti Air as a blue print reader during World War II. Afterward, she worked at Kennys and JC Penneys as a shoe clerk before finishing her career being responsible for finding substitute teachers for the Woodland Hills School District. She spent many years as a Sunday school teacher for Church of Christ congregations and was a counselor at Camp Concern. Emmagene loved the Steelers and was passionate about her children and grandchildren. She retained her Christian Faith and Southern Accent up until the end. SCHAUB Dr. R. THOMAS Of Highland Park died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, October 19, 2015, at 82. Beloved husband of 46 years to Dr. Marilyn Schaub; father of Helen Schaub and father-in-law of Dr. Reena Karani; he is also survived by brother-in-law, Jerome McNamara; and sister-in-law, Eileen McNamara; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joan Patrice Reilly, Phyllis Ann Russell, Richard G. Schaub and Edward Jerome Schaub. For 30 years until his retirement in 1999, Tom taught Biblical studies, world religions and Palestinian archaeology in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was also co-director of the Expedition to the Dead Sea Plain in Jordan and the author of numerous publications of the results of the expedition, including the volumes Bab edh-Dhra': Excavations in the Cemetery Directed by Paul Lapp and Bab edh-Dhra': Excavations at the Town Site (1975-1981), both co-authored with Dr. Walter Rast. As an early proponent of multi - disciplinary archaeological research and academic collaboration, Tom was a leading educator and mentored many young scholars. His contributions to the field were honored in the 2011 volume Daily Life, Materiality and Complexity in Early Urban Communities of the Southern Levant: Papers in Honor of Walter E. Rast and R. Thomas Schaub, edited by Meredith Chesson. FRISCH JOHN CALVIN Age 92, of South Park, formerly of McKeesport and Pleasant Hills, peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Devoted husband of Helen for 73 years; loving father of John Robert Frisch and Joan (Don) Gorman; proud grandfather of Michelle Marsalek, Dawn Okwu, Lindsey Haber, Eric and Rebecca Frisch; great- grandfather of Olivia Frisch, Nathaniel Okwu, Samantha and Jillian Marsalek; brother of Dorothy Frisch; son of the late Dagney and Larz Frisch. John received a degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Mechanical Engineering after serving his country in the army during WWII. He was successful in his field, becoming president of his last multi-national engineering firm. He worked well past normal retirement age for the enjoyment the work gave him. He was active in furthering advancement educational opportunities for handicapped people. He and Helen traveled the world together and at times lived in Australia, France and Indonesia.
