SHREMP FLORENCE (SHERMER) WOOD Age 96, a Coraopolis resident for the past 20 years, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013, at West Hills Health and Rehab. She was born in Punxsutawney, PA, on April 16, 1917, to the late William and Lillie (Kelly) Shermer. She was preceded in death by spouses, Arthur K. Wood and Raymond Shremp. Beloved mother of Don K. Wood (Betty Lou) of Simpsonville, SC, Sally Leigh Kane (John) of Crescent; and stepdaughter, Linda Randazzo of Beauford, SC; seven grandchildren and 11 great -grandchildren; sister of J. Vivian Forcey of Punxsutawney. For 9 years, she was secretary with Human Resources for mine safety, 8 years she worked at Wood's Home Supply, Zelienople, but the job she loved the most, was child care at Carol Leone for 19 years. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at her church, Riverdale Presbyterian Church, 1555 Brodhead Rd., Moon Township, PA 15108. KOSH EDGAR J. 74, of Brecknock Twp., passed away December 4, 2013, in Kindred Transitional Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Mary Louise (Johnston) Kosh, who passed away November 4, 2011. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Lesik) Kosh. During his working years, he was a truck driver who worked independently and for various trucking companies, retiring in 2002. Survivors include four children, Mark A. Kosh, husband of Regina Kosh, Brecknock Twp., Gary J. Kosh, Germany, Jay P. Kosh, and Deborah A. (Kosh), wife of Eric C. Bowers, Lancaster; and a granddaughter, Annabel L. Kosh. There are also several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kosh was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy (Kosh) McNeilis. She lived most of her life in Pittsburgh, except for retirement in Ocala, Florida from 1981 to 2003. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 61 years, Thomas W. Wooddy, Sr. She is survived by her children, Thomas W. (Nancy) Wooddy, Jr. of White Oak, Mary Jo (Eugene) Falsetti of Bethel Park, Ethel R. Chisholm of Navarre Beach, Florida, and Charles I. (Rosa) Wooddy of Kerrville, Tennessee. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served three times as Worthy Matron. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and Steeler football. LaFRANCE ALBERT J., Jr. 77, of Freedom, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at home. Born June 20, 1936 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Emma (D'Amico) LaFrance and the late Albert J. LaFrance, Sr. Albert was a member of the Freedom Eagles and the S.O.I. He served in the United States Marine Corps. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sons, John (1993) and Duane (1999); and a brother, Jim. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his ex-wife, Mary LaFrance, Rochester; his significant other, Sheila George, Freedom; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark (Julie) LaFrance, Ellwood City, Darrell LaFrance, Texas, and Michael (Lisa) LaFrance, White Twp.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janine LaFrance, Erie and Michele (Paul) Trunzo, Moon Twp.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kay Wharton, Penn Hills. KREVOSH DONALD F. Aug. 4, 1936 to Oct. 12, 2013, Donald F. Krevosh, age 77, passed away suddenly at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. After the Army he joined UPS, retiring as an executive after 32 years as District Manager. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Gay (Meghan and Ashley Miller); son, Mark Mercer; brother, Raymond Krevosh (Mary M.). He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Caroline Krevosh; sister, Dolores Dolly Zanardelli (the late John). Don was a self-made man and true gentleman with great integrity. He was an accomplished skier, skilled billiards player, wonderful dancer and avid antique car collector. He was a kind and modest man who spent his life taking care of others and was known for his work in, and contribution to, many charities. No matter where he lived his heart was always as a proud Hazelwood boy who cherished the memories of his hometown and friends. OWENS JOHN F. JACK 92, died on Monday, December 2, 2013, at his residence at Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Township. He was born in Glenwillard, PA, on January 25, 1921, the son of Lincoln Owens and Frances Scharpf Owens. He served our country in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II in the Pacific Theater beginning in 1942 and until his discharge as Staff Sergeant in 1946. He returned to the Beaver Valley to work for the American Bridge Company division of US Steel, retiring in 1987. He moved to Sherwood Oaks in 1993. Mr. Owens was a kind and generous gentleman who loved his country, his flowers, especially his roses, his convertibles, and baseball, especially the Pirates. His remains will be interred in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, with those of the other loyal persons who have served their country well. At his direction, there will be no visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sherwood Oaks Employee Scholarship Fund, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066, or the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, 201 N. Marion is survived by five daughters, Ruth Ann Matchett of New Derry, PA, Virginia Martin of Lakeland, FL, Janet Hastings of Port Charlotte, FL, Marjorie Smith of Port Charlotte, FL, and Patricia Goettel of Pittsburgh, PA. Marion was preceded in death by her two sons, William R. Sprague, Jr. and Thomas E. Sprague; and by her husbands, George Freudenthal and William R. Sprague. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 38 great- grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. McERLAIN ALBERTA A. (SOTAK) 86, of Sunrise of Worthington, OH, formerly of Murrysville, died on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. McErlain; her parents, Michael A. and Anna (Lesko) Sotak; sisters, Winifred Hanchak and Leona Sotak; and brother, Michael Sotak. She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Tom) DiMarco of Columbus, OH and Mary (Patrick) Tatum of Charlottesville, VA; sons, Michael P. (Becki) of Saratoga, CA and Charles Chuck; and six grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Alberta graduated from the Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of Murrysville Nurses Club, often helping with Red Cross Blood drives. She was the happiest when in her garden, she loved sharing a plant cutting with friends. Alberta loved to walk on the beach, enjoyed swimming and spending winter months in Bonita Springs, FL. The McErlain family would like to thank her loving caregivers at Sunrise, especially Love and Whitney, the compassionately caring staff of OhioHealth Hospice and Georgia Jones of Interim Healthcare for all they did to make her comfortable the last week of her life. Alberta will be deeply missed. Born in Sewickley, PA, he moved to Florida in 2003 with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul McLaughlin and Elizabeth (Schubert) McLaughlin; and his brother, Danny McLaughlin. Surviving are his loving wife and best friend of 31 years, Deborah Lynn (Marlette) McLaughlin; his son, Corey Stephen McLaughlin; his daughter, Amanda Christine McLaughlin; his brothers, Paul McLaughlin, Timothy McLaughlin, and Dennis McLaughlin; his sister, Suzanne McLaughlin; his nieces, Kayla (McLaughlin) Costner and Linnea McLaughlin; and his best four-legged friend, Roxy. He worked at Aliquippa Hospital in Aliquippa, PA for 24 years and the last ten years as Materials Management Supervisor at Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares, FL. Rob coached his son's baseball team for 12 years, umpired youth baseball and softball and loved sports, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Rob was truly a good man. He was defined by his love of family, his loyalty, integrity and humor. Every weekend you could find him in his yard working, planting or with a fire burning brightly in the fire pit. His kind-hearted spirit and light-hearted nature was felt by all who knew him.
