JOHNSON OCIE (BLACKMON) Of Crescent, PA a faithful servant of God and teacher of the faith, was taken home in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from Manor Care, Peters Township at the age of 99. Ocie was born in Lancaster, SC on August 18, 1919 to the late James and Pluma Calley (Collins) Blackmon. Ocie grew up in Greensboro, NC, graduating from their high school, and attended Bennet College. She obtained her B.S. from Chatham College. Ocie accepted the Lord at an early age and was the founder and the pastor for over 60 + years of Deliverance For You Church in Donora. Even after retirement, her mission as a minister continued, touching all the lives of relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Ocie was preceded in death by her spouses, Minor Jack Johnson and Gumicendo Torres; her son, Renard Hunter Johnson; her granddaughter, Renae Johnson; her siblings, Nina Mae Blackmon and Curtis Duncan. She is survived by her son, Minor Jack Johnson, Jr. of Coraopolis and Angela Johnson Miller (Marvin) of Washington, PA; and considered as her children, Jasmine and Jalen Mull; daughter-in-law, Mary; her grandchildren, Robert Earl Johnson, Yomiko “Susie” Johnson, Nicole Brown, Lisa Johnson Love, Huntrese R. Johnson Humphreys, Plumetta Johnson, Michael Miller (Crystal) and Sean R. Miller; also ?ve grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; ?rst cousin, William Blackmon – the last of the “Original Clan”; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, supportive church member, Karen Perry and many friends. A “?recracker” from birth, she was born in Derry, PA on July 4, 1925 to the late Fred S. and June R. (McCurdy) Baird. Lois was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Robert L. Neely. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Garnet Smola, Dorothy Fleckenstein, Fred Baird and Donald Baird. She is the beloved mother of Judith A. (Richard) McEwen of New Sewickley Twp.,   Bonnie (Gary) Thompson of Hanover Twp., and Marsha R. Bajus of Oakdale; also survived by sister-in-law, Shirley (the late Fred) Baird of Brook?eld, OH; and   brothers, Wayne Baird of Coraopolis, Glenn Baird of Crescent and Lloyd (Carol) Baird of Ormond Beach, FL; cherished grandmother of Michelle (Jordan) Leonberg, Richard (Lori) McEwen, Jedidiah (Candice) Thompson, Abigail (Tyler) Brooks, and Melissa (Richard) Bigelow; proud great-grandmother of Richard and Justin McEwen, Gabriel, Evely and Reegan Thompson, Hosea and Neely Brooks and Jordan and Mia Leonberg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. CROCKER LINDA (HOLLISTER) On Monday, January 7, 2019, age 77, of Forest Hills. Beloved wife of Gordon Crocker; loving mother of Eden Sutter Reynolds (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL, and William George Sutter III (Marci) of Greensburg; cherished grandmother of Maura and Nolan Reynolds, and Cameron, Erin, and Sydney Sutter. Linda was a 1963 graduate of Allegheny College. She taught advanced English at Churchill Area High School 1964-69. After dedicating her time to raising her children, she joined the United Way of Allegheny County, retiring as Allocations Director. She volunteered with PAAR, the Mars Home for Youth, and the Pittsburgh Opera, where she appeared in numerous productions as a Supernumerary. She was an active member at Smith?eld United Church of Christ and former active member of Edgewood Presbyterian Church. MORRONE ALBERT L . "POPPY" Age 90, of Baldwin peacefully embarked on his next adventure on January 7, 2019. Albert is survived by his loving children, Peggy (Bill) Hurley, Chris Morden, Terri (George) Shreeves, Dan (Mary Ann) Morrone and Mary Morrone; cherished Poppy of 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; brother of Dot Straka, Gerry Karcher, Cathy Motznik, and Sue Armstrong; as well as many nieces, nephews, and the multitude of friends he considered family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn "Kitty" Morrone; parents, Albert, Sr. and Catherine Morrone; son, Tom Morrone; and great- grandson, Alex Kuhns Walker. Al was always busy, he loved bowling, working the church bingo, spring o rama, and became an ambassador at Atria, his second family. TRAVAGLINO SETTIMIO "SAM" Age 88, of Edgeworth, formerly of Steubenville, OH, passed peacefully at home with his family present on Monday, January 7, 2019. He was born in Belmonte Calabro, Italy on September 1, 1930, to the late Saverio and Angela (Magnone) Travaglino. Beloved wife for 60 years to Erminia (Pinacchio) Travaglino; loving father of Rhonda Travaglino Parda (David) of Sewickley, Sandra Travaglino of Seminole, FL and Saverio “Sammy” Travaglino (Christine) of Pittsburgh; cherished “Nonno” of Andrew, Maeghan, Dylan, Michael and So?a. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Egidio Travaglino, Alberto Travaglino, Idora Provenzano, Ida Marano, and Flora Carissimi. Sam was a member of St. James Church, Sewickley and Columbus Club, Italian American Culture Club and the Elks all in Steubenville, Ohio. At the age of 10, Sam began learning his life-work as a tailor in Italy. When he came to the United States at the age of 18, he was an accomplished craftsman working for other tailors. In his early 20's, he opened Travaglino Tailor and Tuxedo Rentals in Steubenville, OH with his father and sister as his staff. He ran a successful family business. For relaxation, Sam enjoyed watching soccer. He was a sports fan and cultivated a love for baseball and football. His favorite player was Rocky Colavito for the Cleveland Indians. It was not unusual to have Sam sitting on the glider watching a game on TV and listening to another on the radio. Sam loved to dance and danced through life with his beloved wife, along with teaching his children to dance the jitter-bug, the waltz, the Tango and the Cha-Cha. Family beach vacations were enjoyed yearly to Atlantic City, NJ. Sam took great pride in his gardening, especially his 70 tomato plants which he generously gave to his many neighbors. Sam loved people and most of all, loved his family. While Mrs. Struiff was primarily a homemaker, she was an instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studio and later in life became a published author. VRYENHOEK ELIZABETH WILHELMINA "BILLIE" (URQUHART) The world lost a bright light when Billie played her last hand on January 4th. After a beautiful life, she died peacefully with family and friends by her side. Billie was born to Gavin and Alexandra Urquhart and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She married Ralph Vryenhoek in 1956 and the couple soon began their eastward journey, landing ?rst in Ottawa. In 1963 they moved to Pittsburgh with baby Bruce in tow, and soon had Leslie and Doug. They raised their family in the south hills of Pittsburgh and made so many lifelong friends. After Ralph's death, she moved to North Carolina in 2012, where she was again blessed with many friends. Billie loved life, her husband and children, family and friends, animals, parties and all manner of games and puzzles. She was a champion golfer, a bridge Life Master, a wicked Scrabble player, a cheerful gambler, a smart investor and an avid follower of US politics. She sang like an angel—including with the Bob Locklin Singers in the early 70s—and rescued pets galore. In 1986, she became a real estate agent and devoted her energy to helping people ?nd a home. Memories of Billie will be cherished by her beloved sister, Margaret and brother- in-law, Ian Norquay; by her children, Bruce, Leslie (and Russell Wangersky) and Douglas (and Terri); her grandchildren, Caitlin Elkjar (and Clay), Raquel Bracken, and Erinn Wilson (and Gil and children); great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many dear friends to name. A memorial gathering will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC on Saturday. KIDZUS GEORGENE (OLESON) Died on January 9, 2019, at the age of 94. She was a lifelong resident of Harmarville, PA, and never stopped loving the Allegheny River that ?owed past her home. She is survived by sons, Ted (Ellie) and Larry (Peggy); daughter, Amy (Sharon); and daughter-in-law, Jan; also by seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Georgene was a child of the Great Depression and also of the 1936 Allegheny River ?ood that forced her family to leave their home through a second ?oor window, into a rowboat oared by an uncle who took the family to safety. Both experiences informed her life and fueled her sense of joy in the things you have rather than in what you don't. She loved to travel. A favorite destination was Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. She participated in Elderhostel events across the United States and took tours to England, Russia, Germany and Austria. All anyone ever had to say was, “Do you want to go…?” and her answer was “Yes!” For the last three decades she was an avid card player at the Plum and Monroeville Senior Centers. Georgene was predeceased by husband, Ed; husband, Albert; and eldest son, Chuck. She will be missed. MURPHY RONALD E . Of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully with his daughter and son by his side on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was 82 years old, and lived a full and active life. He leaves a legacy of countless stories, happy memories and laughs. He was a brilliant man, and the go-to source on almost any topic, from sports trivia to ancient history. He loved to travel with his family and friends. His favorite trips included an annual pilgrimage to Cape May with his sister, nieces and nephews, several trips to Italy with his daughter, San Francisco to see his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, countless ?shing and hunting trips with his buddies, and frequent excursions to his son's home on St. Simons Island. He was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Pittsburgh and of the Canonsburg Sportsmen's Club, where he loved to spend time. He was born October 16, 1936 in Pittsburgh to Catherine and Michael Murphy. He spent much of his youth working in his father's gas station and serving as an altar boy at St Agnes. He also took great pride in his service as a Junior Air Warden during WWII. He loved to play baseball, and even made it through several rounds of try outs with the Pirates. His mother, however, had other plans for him and off he went to St. Francis University where he received a BA and a Masters Degree. He later received his teaching degree from Duquesne University. He loved to recount the action he saw during the years he served in the US Army as an MP and a Chaplain's Assistant, including evacuating Key West during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Ron was a former teacher at Canon McMillan High School. Most people in the community will remember him as “Mr. Murphy,” the Latin teacher at the school from 1962 to 1997. Rarely would a day go by when he wouldn't be recognized by one of his former students. He is survived by his sister Eileen Ianachione of Pittsburgh, a daughter Johanna Murphy of New York, a son Justin Murphy, daughter-in-law, Susan Murphy and granddaughter, Robin Murphy of San Mateo California. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, including Susan and Rick Sbuscio of Washington, PA, Tracilyn and Shawn Tornblom of Pittsburgh, and Tommy and Amy Ianachione of Pittsburgh, whom he loved as his own children. SMITH DEBORAH A. On Saturday, January 5, 2019, a wonderful mother and exceptional human being, passed away at the young age of 67. Deborah was born on October 20, 1951 in Spangler, PA to Stephen F. and Jeanne (Vallery) Bobick. She had several careers throughout her life; dental hygienist, co-manager at a Kroger, co-owner and manager of a Century III Foodland- but none that she was more proud of than being a full time single mother to daughter, Stephanie and son, Brett. Deborah was a lover of life, and enjoyed traveling and gambling, but most enjoyed the simple pleasures- looking for animals in her backyard or watching the sunset with a good cup of coffee. She is best remembered for her larger- than-life personality and sense of humor. Even while receiving chemotherapy treatments she had the nurses and patients laughing. Deborah is preceded in death by her father, Stephen; mother, Jeanne; and brother, Richard. She is survived by her children, Stephanie and Brett. LOBER HARVEY G. Age 84, on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, of Whitehall. Beloved husband of 64 years to Geraldine (Kovach); loving father of Valerie (Michael) Machajewski, Linda (Michael) Gulden, Donna (Charles) Krueger, Judith (Albert "Rege") Sars?eld, and Geri (Robert)   Kalin; proud grandfather of 15; and great-grandfather of six; brother of Joseph and the late William, Olivia Mann and Norman.   Harvey worked as a foreman for J & L Steel Southside Works in the Blooming Mill.   He was a volunteer at Jefferson Hospital and a longtime, active parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Gabriel Church. Friends will be received at the JOHN F.
