VENTURA AGNES M. Age 76, of McMurray, formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Born on August 13, 1938, in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Benito and Paz (Sorio) Maneclang. Cherished mother of Liza, Lawrence, Leilani and David; dear sister of Nena, Ben, Marie, Ching, Tessie, José, Carrie and Virgie; loved grandmother of Tilah, Lana, Jordan, Maddy, Olivia and Will; treasured great-grandmother of Jaden, Jaxon and Lily Grace; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Ventura. Agnes was a scholar and educator for over 30 years. She was a faithful woman, religion was very important to her. A very devoted mother and grandmother, Agnes always placed her family first. SCALO PATRICIA Age 84, passed away peacefully of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on April 1, 2015, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Patricia is survived by her sister, Peggy Miller (Donald); her children, Lisa Scalo McMenamin (Daniel), Jack Scalo (Carole) and James Scalo (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Jacqueline McMenamin, Paige McNaul (Bryce), John Scalo, Jessica Scalo, Ruby Scalo, Lucy Scalo, Nicholas Scalo, and Gus Scalo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Loretta Donagan; and husband, John T. Scalo. She was born in 1930 on the 4th of July in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up on the South Side. Patricia graduated from South High in 1948. She cared deeply for her entire family and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She married the love of her life, John T. Scalo in 1952 and shared 57 wonderful years with him. Early on, Pat worked for Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator for several years while her husband John served in the U.S Air Force. Talking on the phone with her friends and family, near and far, remained one of Pat's favorite things to do. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Pat lived the last 18 years in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She was a member of BallenIsles Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing cards. A few months ago, she moved back to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to be closer to family and resided at Providence Point. Pat was the ultimate hostess, always looking for a reason to entertain and cook for her family and friends. Her exuberant spirit will live forever in all the memories she left behind. A son of the late Elizabeth (Roedler) and Gregor Stein; beloved husband of 60 years to Genevieve (Stargensky) Stein; beloved father of Joanne Donahue and her husband, the late Jay, Mary Elizabeth Stein; beloved grandfather of Richard Donahue; brother of Joseph Stein and wife, Violet, and the late Harold Stein, Francis Stein, Bertha Medved, Carl Stein, Raymond Stein and Gregor Stein; also survived by sisters-in-law, Alicen Stein, Sonia Stein; also several nieces and nephews. Dick retired from Findlay Twp. as a plumbing inspector and sewer manager, was a member of St. Columbkille R.C. Church where he ushered 7:30 Mass for numerous years, served his country in the US Navy WWII, a member of the Imperial Vol. Fire Dept. where he served as past chief, he was an avid gardener, farmer, and a Pgh. sports fan. RECHT JANET KARP Passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the age of 83, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of 62 years of Weirton, WV, attorney, Arthur J. Recht; devoted mother of Scott (Jaime) Recht of Rockville, MD, Elisa Recht Marlin of Pittsburgh, PA, Jodie (Steven) Krasnick of Huntington Woods, MI, and Steven (Geri) Recht of Upper St. Clair, PA; loving grandma of Bruce and Jason Recht, Daniel, Barry, and Zachary Marlin, Ellie, Marla, and Evan Krasnick, and Jacob, Sydney, and Rayna Recht; sister-in-law of the late Rose (the late Harry) Hausman, Sally (the late David) Hearst, the late Allan (the late Florence) Recht, Ruth (the late Edward Rubenstein and the late Charles) Levenson, and Florence (the late Jack) Heyison; also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Janet was born in Steubenville, Ohio, to Morris Karp and Pearl Rothstein Karp. A graduate of East Liverpool High School, she attended the Ohio State University, where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and graduated with an education degree. She was a proud Buckeye alumna and fan throughout her life. Janet taught in the Alikana, Ohio, school district from 1953-1955. Janet was a Life Member of Hadassah, and member of Beth Israel Synagogue of Weirton, B'nai Israel Synagogue of Steubenville, Temple Beth Israel of Steubenville, and most recently Beth El Congregation of the South Hills. Her benevolence extended to many organizations and individuals. Janet enjoyed traveling, cooking, music, reading, and spending time with family. She was a longtime patron of the arts, including Pittsburgh Public Theater, City Theater, and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The Recht family would like to thank Janet's medical staff and the Right at Home caregivers, April, Kim, Cindi, Kristie, Cheyenne, Tammy, Mercedes, and Teresa for their loving care of Janet. Services and interment were held on Monday, March 30, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in B'nai Israel Cemetery of Steubenville.
